This was the kind of moment Spencer liked the best. The quiet moments where he could just enjoy the company of the woman he was in love with and not have to worry about sprinting off to the scene of the next vicious crime or worrying about whether or not their colleagues had finally connected the dots and figured out that they were together.

"For some reason," said JJ as she came out of her bedroom wearing a pair of his pajamas and towel drying her hair "Nothing feels better after a day like today than a warm shower."

He opened his mouth to explain the scientific reason but was quickly shushed by her kissing him firmly.

"Let me have this mystery, ok?"

He nodded and smiled sheepishly. "Force of habit."

She sat down beside him on her well worn couch, leaning against him as she brushed her hair. "So is my apartment what you expected?"

He shook his head. It wasn't really. It was cozy and warm, full of eclectic furniture and things that JJ had obviously spent a long time looking for.

"I have to admit I expected something more..."

She grinned. "High end?"

"Well, you did call my apartment shabby."

He took the brush from her hand and turned slightly to run the brush through her hair. "And I never took you for much of a Shakespeare fan," he said nodding to the large book on the table.

"Dad was."

Spencer nodded. JJ didn't talk much about her family but he knew that she had been very close to her father before he died of cancer her first year at the bureau.

"What was his favorite?"

"He liked them all," she said softly "He used to read me Romeo and Juliet all the time though. I remember, I would sit on his lap and just listen to his voice."

Spencer smiled. "For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet..."

JJ laughed softly and turned to look at him over her shoulder. "And her Romeo."

He kissed her gently. "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too."

JJ didn't sleep much normally, most nights were spent pacing or watching the news. She loved the news, if she hadn't gone into the Bureau; she thought maybe she would have ended up working in the news. When she was with Spencer it was different, she always slept when he was there.

"Sleepy now," she whispered pressing a kiss to his arm.

He laughed softly and wrapped his arm tighter around her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "So sleep."

"Aren't you going to?"

He shook his head as he pulled the covers up over them. "Can't sleep."

She rested her chin on her hands and looked up at him. If you had told her a year ago that she would be in bed with Spencer Reid, she would have told you that you were crazy but there she was. She wasn't sure how or when it had happened but she was in love.

"Try?"

He sighed softly and nodded. "Ok. For you."

She smiled and leaned over him to turn off the light. "Night, Spence."

"Night."

It was raining that night and in hindsight, the doorman of JJ's building would come to regret letting the man into the building. Short and relatively pleasant looking, he didn't look like he would cause anyone any harm let alone the pretty blonde girl and that nice boy of hers.

But he did.

JJ woke to hear the sounds of someone jimmying the door of her apartment. "Spence," she whispered "Wake up. Someone is breaking in."

She shook him again as she heard the lock pop on the door. "Spence."

"What?" he whispered back his voice thick with sleep.

"Someone just broke in."

She heard him fumble for his gun and slide out of the bed. "Be careful," she whispered unable to hide the frantic tone in her voice.

JJ fumbled in the dark for her clothes and her own gun. Then, her heart sank when she heard a gunshot ring out through the dark apartment.

"Spencer!"

A hour later, the phone rang at the Hotchner residence. Hotch reached out and grabbed the phone, his wife still asleep beside him.

"I'll be right there," he said softly after the caller finished updating him on the situation worry already showing in his face.

"Aaron? What's wrong?" asked Hailey when she woke to see him up and getting dressed.

"JJ and Reid. They're missing."
