David Rossi sighs as he packs his briefcase, then looks around the conference room he and the team have occupied for the past four days in the FBI's Dallas field office. Another case closed, home by noon tomorrow, he thinks to himself, satisfied that he has packed all that needs to go back to Quantico. One more sleep, as Anna would say, and I'll be back where I belong.

A soft knock at the door causes him to turn around, and he sees a young agent whose name he cannot remember standing there, looking at him nervously, expectantly.

"Yes?" he asks. "May I help you with something?"

"No," she replies quickly, "and I'm sorry to interrupt, but I just heard Agent Morgan say that your plane isn't leaving until tomorrow morning, and I, uh, I was wondering..." She blushes furiously as her voice trails off.

"Wondering what?"

She licks her upper lip, winds a strand of hair around her index finder, and takes a deep breath. "I was wondering if you'd join me for a drink." She walks toward him, her back straight, shoulders square, chest thrust forward, motives clear. "I've read all of your books, Agent Rossi, and I'm just fascinated by your work. I'd love to talk to you about some of the cases you've been involved in...or just talk to you about anything."

He bites back a smile; this has happened to him more times than he cares to remember. An invitation to a bar, then an invitation home for a romp between the sheets.... In another place and time, he might have agreed, but not now.

"I'm sorry," he says gently, "but no. Early flight, early night."

Her disappointment is evident, but she gives him a smile, and he is glad she doesn't press. "Of course. I understand. It was nice meeting you."

"Nice meeting you too."

He gives her a moment to leave, then walks out of the conference room, turning off the lights as he goes. She looked nice, but he's got something nice back home. Two somethings nice, in fact – JJ and Anna.
