"Darling, will you just answer it? We won't care, if it's work it's probably important." Penelope Garcia's mother said to her for the second time Christmas Eve night. The Garcia household was filled with grandparents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Garcia apologized and pulled out her cell phone, before she could answer her cousin Sherry pulled it out of her hands and answered it on speaker. Thinking it was just J.J asking where something was in her office, she answered.

"Hello."

"Hey, my beautiful goddess, how are you this wonderful Christmas Eve baby girl?" Morgan's playful seductive voice filled the room.

"Oh my god." Garcia made a grab for the phone but it was yanked away. Her entire family was now staring at the cell phone as if it was an alien object.

"Sweetness, everything alright?" he asked again.

"Stop talking…Yes, everything's fine can I call you..." before she could finish her nosey aunt interrupted.

"Young man…why are you speaking with my niece that way? You do know we all can hear you?"

Morgan paused for a minute, and sat up at his desk. "I was not aware of that, I apologize m'am."

"Who is this?" she asked.

"I'm Derek Mor-"

"Derek…isn't your boyfriend's name Derek…"

"Oh my god…" Garcia repeated. Morgan hesitated and took a moment to process this. He reviewed Garcia's attitude about this holiday, relationships and family. All within a few seconds.

"Guilty. And I apologize, that I'm sitting at a desk right now instead of there with Penelope. Miss you angel." Garcia smiled and couldn't believe he was going along with this.

"Well, you must have a couple hours tomorrow that you can come by? We'd love to meet you." Sherry smiled. "Frankly we didn't think you were real." She said snottily.

"Oh no I'm sure he's …"

"I would love a home cooked meal, and I would love to spend time with the most amazing woman I know." Morgan responded before he thought, just out of anger toward Garcia's relative.

"It's settled…"

Garcia managed to create an excuse and go into the bathroom. Where she called Morgan.

"Are you out of your gorgeous mind?" she asked before he could comment.

"Why, hello to you do darling. And no I'm not are you? What would make you have such a low opinion of yourself to think that you couldn't get a date?"

"Don't change the subject sweet stuff."

"No don't avoid the topic."

"You haven't met my family. They're all perfect hair, perfect body, perfect everything. Then well…there's me…"

"What's wrong with you?"

"Have you seen me Derek?"

"Yes, Penelope I have, and I would love to be your boyfriend tomorrow."

Derek was dressed in a nice, form-fitting shirt, with black pants, his usual work outfit. And he found himself nervous as he approached the steps to the Garcia house. He made a mental check list of the names of Garcia's family. Sherri was her cousin, the bitchy one on the phone. Marie was her mother's name, and David was her step-father. Her grandmother, Anita, her mother's mother. That was as far as he got before he found the door being flung open.

"Can I help you?" a slender blond woman asked. Morgan assumed this was Sherri. Behind her stood an older couple and Garcia.

"I'm Derek." At this revelation Sherri's mouth dropped open.

"No you're not." She stammered. "Derek is P's boyfriend."

"Yes, that's right, you must be Sherri." She continued to stare at him.

"Penelope," he called past Sherri.

"Hey you. Come in." she said.

And so it starts he thought.

Derek found himself sitting on the vomit green sofa, holding Garcia's hand and knowing what it felt like to be on the opposite side of the interrogation table.

"So, I'm sorry Derek right?" Garcia's mother asked.

"That's right Mam, Derek Morgan."

"Now you're one of those nerdy techie people like P here…" Sherri asked.

"No, I'm a Supervisory Special Agent with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI." Derek figured that going for the whole title would sound more impressive to the annoying woman he wanted to refer to by another name then cousin Sherri.

"Wow that is a mouthful. Here have another cookie." Her mother shoved a cookie into his mouth.

The dinner was amazing and Morgan made sure he offered to help with the dishes. He pulled out all the stops to woo Garcia's family…and he hoped secretly Garcia.

"It's time for presents…bet you didn't think of that did you Agent Morgan. I bet you're not a real federal agent… just one of those hired ones like officer sexy…" Sherri ran her hands down his arms.

"Wow, you're bordering on sexual harassment you know that right?" he smiled at her through clenched teeth.

The presents were passed out and Morgan made a run to his car. He had bought the usual small stuff for Garcia's family...candles and things like that ...but her present was special and he hoped that she liked it and that he wasn't an idiot.

The parents thanked him profusely for the wine glass set, and Sherri made a face at the candle.

"You open your's first." Morgan and Garcia said at the same time.

"Come on beautiful...you go first.." Morgan said.

Garcia smiled and opened the smaller package first. It was a set of feathered and funky pens...

"You know me..." she smiled...Morgan swallowed the larger gift that he had given her was the one he was nervouse about...she pulled the paper off of it.

"Oh my god..." She gasped. It was a gold charm bracelet. With 4 charms on it. One of a computer, the other a tiara, the third a badge, and the fourth a smilie face. It was beautiful.

The rest of the room sat in awe of the thoughtful/expensive gift.

"Derek..." Garcia started...

"Don't even try it girl...it's yours... I couldn't just get you any old thing... it had to be special like you." Morgan beamed at her reaction and smile to the gift. He had spent a better part of 4 pay checks to pay for the thing.

"It's beautiful...thank you." he smiled at her.

"Open yours..." it was like hers technically two presents. The first was a book. A copy of computers for dummies..

"Haha... you know me too well baby girl..." Morgan grinned... the second was two tickets to the band that he'd been talking about for the better half of a month. "Thanks baby girl..." he smiled at her.

Sherri made a gaging noise in the back... Morgan helped clean up the mess the wrapping paper had created. And was standing in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room when Garcia ambushed him.

"What the hell are you thinking gorgeous? Giving me a gift like this?"

"I was thinking I needed the get you something special...because you're something special...don't yell at me you're keeping the thing hotness."

"My my..." Garcia's mother coughed...

Morgan and Garcia turned toward her and followed her gaze upward...they were under mistletoe...

"Oh..mom...just forget..." Garcia was cut off as Derek's lips captured hers...the kiss lasted for a few minuets as the two explored each others mouths...

"Merry Christmas beautiful..." Morgan smiled at Garcia as they broke apart...

"Here's to New Years..." She grinned and pulled him in for another kiss.
