David Rossi crept silently into his girlfriend Emily Prentiss's apartment. In his hand he carried a container of homemade chicken noodle soup and some 7-up. Emily had called in sick this morning at his insistence. She couldn't stop coughing and sneezing, not to mention the fact that she'd been running a fever. Glancing around the living room he smiled as he saw her curled on the couch under a blanket. Walking over to where she was lying, he placed the items he was carrying on the coffee table before kneeling down and touching her cheek.

"Em, wake up, babe." Feverish brown eyes opened slowly to meet his.

"Hi," she croaked.

"Hey, how ya feeling?" Her response was cut off by a series of painful coughs.

"Answer your question?" she teased lightly.

"Yeah it does. I brought you some chicken noodle soup and some 7-up. When's the last time you checked your temp?" he asked her

"I don't know. Around 12:00 or so?" Looking at his watch Dave noted that it was already 6:30. Reaching for the thermometer he handed it to her and held her gaze until she reluctantly put it under her tongue. Two minutes later it beeped and Dave read the display.

"It's 100.6, that's down from the 101 it was this morning."

"Is that Mama Rossi's soup?" the sick agent asked hopefully.

"Yes, when I told her you were sick she made some and demanded that I give it to you. So what do you say you take some Advil and eat some soup? How does that sound?"

"Okay, she answered as she pushed herself into a sitting position. -

Five minutes later Dave had put together a tray with cold medicine, advil, a bowl of soup and crackers and some 7-up.

"Have some sup with me?" Emily requested.

"I'd love to. I'd never pass up a chance to eat Mama's soup," he replied. They ate in companionable silence until Emily broke it.

"So what did I miss today?"

"Nothing really, just Morgan trying to pawn his paperwork off on Reid again."

"You'd think he

would've learned by now that Reid won't fall for that," Emily said.

"No, apparently not."

"It's nice to know no matter how much always changes, somethings never do," she commented.

"Mmm-hmm," Dave mumbled in agreement.

Finishing her soup Emily placed the bowl back on the tray and leant back into the couch. Automatically her body moved towards Dave until she was curled against him. Placing his bowl next to Emily's he reached out and pulled her close.

"Still sleepy?" he whispered noticing her eyes drooping.

"Yeah, a little." "

Well then, sleep," he said reaching for the blanket at her feet and covering her with it. Nodding slowly Emily let her eyes close and felt herself falling back to sleep instantly. Placing a kiss on top of her bent head, Dave got comfortable on Emily's couch. His girlfriend was sick, and it was his job to nurse her back to health and that's exactly what David Rossi intended to do.
