Danny awoke with a start, his eyes flying open. It was all he could do not to gasp and sit up in bed -- or leap out of bed. There was someone next to him, a warm body snuggled against his, and for just a few moments, he couldn't remember who it was.

Then memory came flooding back to him of the night before, and he relaxed, a smile curving his lips. Greg was in bed with him -- Greg, the man he'd made love to last night, not once, but three times. They'd fallen asleep in each other's arms, each knowing that the other was completely sated.

Last night had been even more amazing than he'd thought it would be -- and he had thought it would be incredible. There was something about Greg, a raw sexuality that wasn't evident at first sight, but that was more and more apparent once a person started digging deeper.

He'd wanted Greg from the first time he'd seen him, had wanted to take him to be and make love to him all night -- which was exactly what he'd done. He had no regrets about the night just past, and he knew that there would be no regrets about future nights, either.

The only thing he regretted was that he hadn't met Greg sooner, hadn't been able to let this amazing man into his life long before this. He was sure that being with Greg was going to turn his life around, that being in a steady, secure relationship would keep him more grounded than he'd ever been.

He'd been in relationships before, but he always had the tendency to get restless after a while. And since he wasn't the cheating type and never would be, he always ended the relationships before it came to that. It was easier than trying to sneak around.

There would be none of that with Greg, he was sure of it. This would be the relationship that lasted, the one that he would be in for the rest of his life. He couldn't imagine not wanting Greg, not being with him, not making love to him every night for the rest of their lives.

But of course, that couldn't happen when he was on tour, Danny thought, the realization clutching at his heart. What if Greg couldn't deal with that? What if he wanted a man who would be here by his side all the time, someone who could spend every night with him?

Danny pushed that thought away, not wanting to contemplate it until he talked about it with Greg. He didn't need to let himself get paranoid, not at this stage of their relationship. For all he knew, Greg would be fine with him not being around every day -- or every night.

Besides, he wasn't going to cheat on Greg when he was on the road. He wasn't that kind of person. He had never done it with any lovers in the past, and he definitely wasn't gong to risk losing Greg that way. Not when he felt such a strong connection to the man who currently shared his bed.

It was almost frightening how close he felt to Greg, Danny mused as he propped himself up on one elbow to look down at the handsome man sleeping so peacefully beside him. He barely knew this man, yet he felt a stronger bond with him than he ever had with anyone.

It wasn't just sexual, Danny told himself firmly. It was far more than that. He didn't just want Greg in his bed -- though that was where he was convinced this man belonged. He wanted Greg in his arms, in his life, in his heart. Not just for a little while, but forever.

The thought of how Greg would feel about him being out on the road came back, stronger than before. Danny wished that he could simply ignore it, but it was too much in the forefront of his mind; maybe he should wake Greg up so they could discuss their future over breakfast.

No, he wasn't going to do that, he thought as he looked down at Greg again. He looked so peaceful, so happy, his lips curved in a slight smile as he slept. Danny didn't have the heart to disturb him, especially not with something that could very well cause an argument.

He had to go on tour; he was a professional golfer. Greg had to understand that touring, going on the road with tournaments, was part of his life, and had been for a long time. He might not be the best golfer in the world, but he didn't want to stop what he was doing.

And his life wasn't going to change in that respect, Danny thought unhappily. He had to play in those tournaments if he wanted to earn a living -- and he had to do well in them. He couldn't spend his time worrying about what his lover thought of him being on the road.

Greg wasn't the kind of guy who would expect him to give up his life of golfing -- was he? Danny felt as if a hand was reaching into his chest, squeezing at his heart and not letting go. He couldn't give Greg up now that they'd found each other -- but he couldn't give up his livelihood, either.

He loved playing golf. He might not be the best player out there, but it was a part of him that he couldn't see giving up, not even for Greg. If he gave that up, he'd be giving up a part of his soul, an integral part of who he was. Greg couldn't expect that of him.

No, Greg wouldn't do that, Danny told himself, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. If he would expect something like that of him, then this wasn't the man he should be with, and they would only be good for a brief fling, a good time with no strings attached.

Neither of them would be satisfied with that, now that they'd been together. This was meant to be more than just a fling; Danny could feel it in his heart and soul. Greg was meant to be with him, no matter what kinds of problems they might face.

He was already falling in love with Greg; he'd known that from the first time they'd kissed. He wasn't going to let this man get away, or let go of him -- unless Greg was the one who decided to walk away. In that case, he would have to respect his lover's wishes.

But it would kill him to lose Greg. He had never connected with anyone like this, in bed or out of it. There was something between them that was more than sex, more than passion, more than a physical attraction. There was an understanding, not just between their bodies, but between their souls.

He'd never felt like this about anyone else; no one had ever moved him to this kind of passion, or made him want a life with them in the way that he did with Greg. He would marry this man in a heartbeat, if Greg would have him. He would give this man anything he wanted, and more.

They might not always have an easy road ahead of them, Danny reflected. Greg might not like his being on the road some of the time, and he didn't like the idea of Greg risking his life at his job. But they would make it work. They owed it to each other to at least try.

Right now, he didn't want to think about any issues that they might face in the future, Danny told himself, keeping his inner voice firm and decisive. He simply wanted to keep Greg here in his bed for as long as he could, so they could make love all day.

He smiled as he bent down to brush a kiss across Greg's cheek, careful not to wake the other man. He hoped that Greg had no plans for the rest of the day, so they could stay here in bed and make love, talk, discuss their future, their hopes, their dreams.

Staying in bed all day hadn't seemed like such an enticing proposition for him in a very long time, Danny thought, his smile growing. But now that he had someone in his life, he was sure that he'd be spending a lot more time here -- and enjoying it much more, too.

He intended to get started on that enjoyment right now, Danny thought as he snuggled down beside Greg, wrapping his arms around the other man's waist and getting comfortable. He was right where he wanted to be, and he hoped that this would always be just where he belonged.
