Logan gazed out over the water that seemed to stretch all the way to the horizon, raising a hand to his face to shield his eyes from the glare of the sun on the water. Ryan would be at his place soon; he needed to cut this walk on the beach short.

He glanced at his watch as he lowered his arm to make sure of what time it was; sure enough, it was close to time for Ryan to leave work and come home.

His heart sped up in his chest at the thought of seeing Ryan again -- and of what they would probably do during the dark hours of the night. Before he'd met Ryan, it would have been something he dreaded'; now, he found himself looking forward to tonight..

It was amazing how much he had changed since he'd come to Miami.

When he'd first come here, he had told himself over and over again that he didn't want to get into any kind of relationship, either with a man or a woman. He'd been so sure that he didn't need anyone special in his life, that he could get by on his own.

Of course, he hadn't counted on meeting a man who took his breath away, a man who held such a strong attraction for him that he couldn't have stayed away even if he had wanted to. Ryan had burst into his life unexpectedly -- and he had no regrets.

Logan hadn't expected this kind of change in his life -- but he didn't want things to go back to the way they'd been before. He had been so lost then, floundering in a sea of uncertainty, not knowing what he really wanted or what direction he wanted his life to take.

Now he knew. He wanted to be with Ryan, for them to build a future together. It might not be the easiest route for him to take; he knew that his past was going to throw some barriers in their way. But he had to face those demons and fight them.

As long as he had Ryan by his side, he could face any changes.

He'd always wanted things to change when he lived in Neptune; he'd wanted to get away from his abusive father, and from the people who expected him to be someone he wasn't. Now that those changes had taken place, he felt free, as though his life was wide open ahead of him.

As indeed it was. Those changes had been all for the good, the best thing that had ever happened to him, and even if they hadn't been expected, he embraced them all.

Just as he would embrace Ryan when he saw his boyfriend again. The thought brought a smile to Logan's lips as he turned to make his way back along the beach to his apartment building, his footsteps quickening at the thought of being with Ryan again in just a short while.
