"This has been the best vacation ever," Greg murmured sleepily, burrowing against Ryan's side.

"I have to agree," Ryan said with a soft chuckle, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend. "I can't recall ever having such a great vacation. But I've never shared one with someone I love before, either."

Greg was right, he thought, feeling happy and satisfied as they snuggled together under the covers. This had been the best vacation he'd ever had, and it had been made even more special because of the fact that he had shared it with the man he loved. They'd spent every moment together.

He hadn't felt that he wanted to go off on his own to explore anything, or that they needed a break from each other. He never felt that way with Greg.

How was that possible, never to get tired of spending time with a person?

If that was part of what it meant to be in love, then he most definitely was, Ryan told himself with an inward smile. He was more and more in love with Greg every day, finding new things about his boyfriend to adore.

It felt as though this vacation had been a juice red apple for them, and they had both taken a large bite and enjoyed every moment of it. This had been a prize that they'd both wanted for a while, one that they hadn't thought they would get. And that prize had turned out to be more than worthwhile.

He considered their time here educational, as well as some much-needed personal time.

They'd gone to museums, to a play, and they'd seen architecture. They had been to the Arc de Triomphe, the Tuilieries, and to the top of the Eiffel Tower. They'd done all of the things that tourists did in Paris, and they had both enjoyed all of it. Ryan almost felt as though Paris was a part of him now.

They'd discovered so much about this city, and even though they'd seen and done a lot, Ryan knew that they hadn't come close to viewing everything that Paris had to offer.

It was an amazing city, and he wanted to come here with Greg again. Now that their vacation time was coming to an end, he almost hated to leave and go home.

But a part of him missed Vegas, too. He couldn't wait to get home and see Wolfie again; the puppy was staying with Nick and his dog while they were away, and Ryan was sure that he was having the time of his life with a playmate. Still, it would be good to go home and have things back to normal again.

Being back home would feel good, slipping back into the rhythm of their lives that they were used to.

They would be able to look back on these two weeks with pleasure, and the memories that they'd made here would last a lifetime. They had taken tons of pictures, so they would have those, too; they could look back on their time in Paris and know that it had been one of the best times of their lives.

Taking a bite of this apple had been good for them, and they'd both loved it. Ryan already felt refreshed, energized, and ready to dive back into work.

Though he was sure that he'd miss having this time with Greg, just the two of them.

Once they got back home and back to work, they'd still be working together as a team, so it wasn't like they would lose their time with each other, he told himself.

They just wouldn't have the time to walk around and explore a new place, to literally stop and smell the roses. But maybe they should make time for that, Ryan thought. They should take time each and every day to enjoy everything around them, to see beauty in little things.

They could take just as big and satisfying a bite out of the apple of Vegas just as much as they had here in Paris, Ryan thought, closing his eyes and holding Greg close.

He almost couldn't wait to get home and taste that juicy red apple that was waiting for them.
