Greg smiled as he snuggled against Danny's warm back, closing his eyes.

It didn't bother him that Danny had turned over; they usually spent part of the night spooning each other. He would wake in the morning lying in Danny's arms, as he almost always did.

Last night had been absolutely wonderful; it was as though the days through the week when Danny had been gone hadn't happened at all. The distance between them was always swept away as soon as their bodies were bared and they were in bed together.

Actually, it hadn't felt like there was a lot of distance this time around, he mused. Maybe he was just starting to get used to Danny being gone a lot of the time.

Somehow, they were managing to make this work.

It wasn't always easy, and he had to admit that he didn't like the fact that Danny was gone for most of the week and they only saw each other on weekends. But this golf tournament was important to his boyfriend, and he wouldn't have felt right to make Danny turn it down.

In the end, he was glad that he hadn't tried to hold his boyfriend back.

The two of them talked every night -- or rather, in the mornings when Greg got home from work. It made him feel good to hear Danny's voice before he fell asleep.

And he couldn't help thinking that maybe hearing his voice in the mornings gave Danny a good start to his day, lifted his spirits, and helped him to play better.

All in all, they were both getting through this separation better than Greg had thought they would.

This arrangement wasn't perfect, and Greg had to wonder if it would work for the long term. But for the moment, things were going well. And having this entire weekend with Danny -- especially since his boyfriend had been able to come home a day early -- would be paradise.

In the here and now, being with his lover was all he needed.

With all the time that they had to spend apart lately, just being able to wake up in the middle of the night -- or day, as it were -- next to Danny was like being in paradise.

Their lives might not be perfect, but they were finding a way to make things work. And that old "absence makes the heart grow fonder" saying was something that Greg was finding to be true. He was sure that he loved Danny even more every time his boyfriend came home from the tour.

This wouldn't last all that much longer, Greg told himself firmly. It was already nearly halfway over. Six weeks wasn't all that long, and there was already less than a month to go.

Then Danny would be home all the time, and that truly would be paradise.
