One thing was for sure; Miami was not Vegas. Nick looked out over the ocean and took a deep breath. It had been a few months since he transferred to Miami, and he hadn't regretted it for one moment. Working with Caine was vastly different from working with Grissom. Not that one was better than the other, but their styles were miles apart from each other.

He glanced over towards Speed and smiled; he was bitching about sand messing up his crime scene. Nick would be the first to admit it wasn't the perfect relationship, at times the two of them seemed so opposite. Many had commented on it at the lab, but while they commented on the differences, they also commented on how they were good together.

"It's not that bad, man." Nick turned back towards the task at hand.

"Repeat that to me after we spend the next six hours on this small section of the beach sifting through every grain of sand looking for that one thing that will tell us who killed her," Speed muttered as he blocked off the crime scene.

"At least it’s by the ocean." Nick shrugged and began setting up the grid marks.

Speed glanced up over the ocean and then back at Nick. "Forgot Vegas boy, you were a bit land locked."

"I'm really Texan, though Dallas is still pretty land locked." Nick smiled brightly at him. "It’s just beautiful." He glanced out over the water.

Speed shook his head. "Wait till Hurricane season hits."

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this mornin'." Calleigh rolled her eyes as she walked up. "Or maybe the problem is he woke up alone."

Speed growled at her and just went back to work. "Don't mind him, he didn’t' get his coffee this mornin'." Nick smiled at her.

Nick had found a good friend in the Southern girl. They had hit it off pretty quickly, both very friendly and optimistic. She had been very helpful in helping Nick adjust to Miami.

"Though I have to admit," she sighed sitting her kit down, "I do hate beach scenes; it takes forever to get the sand out of places we don't discuss in mixed company."

Speed just eyed her before going back to work. "I'm sure Eric would gladly help wash up."

Calleigh huffed at him. "Now don't go spreading any rumors."

"Not a rumor if it's true." He grinned at her. "Get two beers into Eric and he can't shut up."

She hit him as she walked over to her section of the grid. "That boy is in so much trouble."

Speed smirked and turned towards Nick. "Wait till she finds out Eric hasn't said a thing."

Nick laughed. "You are in trouble."

"You are obsessed with the ocean." He stepped out onto the balcony and handed Nick a beer.

"It's just so peaceful and alluring." Nick turned and leaned against the railing.

"Do you ever wonder?" Speed asked looking out towards the ocean.

"Wonder what?" he asked.

"If you had stayed in Vegas. What would have happened? Maybe Warrick..." He was shut up by a fierce kiss.

Speed sighed into the kiss and pulled Nick close.

"Sometimes I wonder, but then I think of this and us and know this is where I belong." Nick kissed him again with a bit more passion, his tongue sweeping into Speed's mouth lazily dueling with his tongue. Speed began to pull him into the Condo, towards their bedroom.

Speed pulled away from Nick and growled, "I swear if that's Delko I'm kicking his ass." He stalked towards the front door.

"Well the sooner you get rid of him, the quicker you can wash my back...I swear there is sand in places sand should never be..."

"Told you," Speed laughed as he opened the door, his smile turning to a frown.

"Hello, Speed."

"Warrick."
