Author: slightly_frayed a.k.a. Fraying
Rating: PG, methinks. Lightest I've ever written.
Spoilers: None.
Summary: It's in the little things. Fluff.
Author's Note: This is mostly drabble. 368 words. This may sound ridiculous, but try reading it out loud. I liked it better when I read it out loud. XD

Greg loves being a CSI. Loves the feeling of justice and fulfillment after a case is closed. Loves working as a team with people who love it just as much as he does. But most of all, Greg loves the puzzle. How every tiny and seemingly insignificant detail comes together to tell a story that no one else will ever fully understand.

And that's what Greg loves about being with Nick. Every tiny detail that comes together to form a feeling that he doesn't get anywhere else. Never needs to find again, because he has it now and he'll never let it go. Never. Because it's perfect in every way and it makes life worth living. And there's only one other person in the world who understands it like he does. Needs it like he does; and he's lying next to him now, smiling to himself in his sleep.

The smile is one of those details; has those details itself. Every line that seems to mystically appear from nowhere at random. Greg thinks he'd do anything to make those lines pop out of nowhere. Would do anything to see those gorgeous pools of deep mahogany emotion light up and glisten. Because they're one of those precious, unmistakable details that make up the smile. Nick's smile. Nick.

He's stirring now. Greg's watching his chest rise and fall. Watching him breathe. The breath is comfort. It's comfort, and it's knowing, and it's how Greg knows what Nick is feeling. Because it's another detail, and Greg knows them all. Knows that it grows shallow and quick when Nick's spent all day thinking about how to touch Greg, and he finally gets to. Knows that it slows at a steady pace when the frantic and desperate touching is over. Knows that it's no longer just breathing, but a yawn; and Nick's awake.

And there's that smile again; appreciated in so many ways for its tiny details. And a kiss. Greg can't put into words how many tiny details make up that kiss. He wouldn't want to, anyway, because words are just words, and plentiful. A kiss from Nick is more than words and emotion and detail. A kiss from Nick is life.
