Title: Discontinuation
By: NVenus
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Summary: Sort of an O. Henry, but read through the whole thing.

Greg sat on the couch staring into his lap. He looked so glum and there was nothing anyone could do to help. What had gone wrong? Everything had been so good, but in a moment everything had changed. Nothing was right anymore. He didn’t know how this could happen to him.

A single sentence, that was all it took. When the other man had spoken that sentence, Greg’s whole world had come crashing down around him. He didn’t know what to do. His whole world was in chaos. Up was down, down was up, left was right, and right was diagonal.

It must have been a mistake, but it wasn’t. Greg felt so alone and confused. How could this be done to him? After all that time, how could it just all end like that with one sentence? What was he supposed to do now? He could never, ever find a replacement for what he had lost. It would never be good enough.

He heard the door open, but didn’t look up.

“Hey G!” Nick called from the other room. “I’m home. Where are you?”

“In here,” Greg answered, sounding just as depressed as he was.

“G? Babe, what’s wrong?” Nick asked, sounding worried.

“The worst thing that could possibly happened just happened.”

“What? Greg, what is it?”

Greg just shook his head, staying silent.

“Greg, tell me.”

Greg sighed as Nick sat down next to him on the couch, pulling him close.

“They discontinued my favorite hair gel,” Greg said dejectedly.

Nick tried not to laugh, but accidentally let out a snort; this earned him a sad glare from Greg.

“Sorry baby.”
