DNA Obsession?

David Hodges seemed to have a thing for DNA tech's. At least that's what Sara thought as she watched him moon over the current DNA tech Wendy Simms. She didn't believe Hodges was aware of this and in a way felt sorry for him. It was clear by the roll of her eyes and the put upon sigh Wendy had just delivered that the feeling wasn't mutual.

Sara sighed. This had to stop, she thought. She squared her shoulders and marched into his lab. Hodges didn't look up as Sara came to stand beside his evidence counter.

"Go away Sidle. I have no results for you." She watched him for a moment as he fiddled with his microscope. Hodges looked up. "What?" He asked. Sara shook her head.

"Why do you do this to yourself David?" Hodges stopped his processing and looked up startled.

"Do what Sidle?"

"You know what. First Mia, then Wendy. Come on David. You get these ridiculous crushes the minute they walk through the door and then get upset when they turn you down. It's not healthy plus your a total ass for at least three days after." David smirked at her a bit then his face hardened.

"I don't believe you have room to talk Sara. You've been obsessed with Grissom for how long? Since Grad school? " Sara glared at him. He turned away. "Yeah, that's what I thought." Sara sat on his vacated chair heavily.

"Yes, I know it's hypocritical of me to say this to you, but David it isn't just one person with you, one person I can understand. You just cling to these women and it's always the DNA techs. Why David?" Sara watched him look up and stare through the glass walls, a sadness she had never seen in him painted across his face.

"Maybe..." he said. "...maybe it's because I can't have the DNA tech I want." Sara swiveled in her chair to try and see what he was staring at so intensely. She gasped a bit as she watched Greg Sanders stride down the hall toward the fingerprint lab, case folder in hand and goofy smile on his face.

Sara brought a hand up to her mouth.

"Oh my God." She whispered. David sighed wearily and nodded.

"Now you know my greatest secret Sara. Should I ready my transfer papers?" She looked at him, really looked and saw a David she didn't know. The real him she thought. Not the one who hid behind his wit and his sarcasm, but someone like her in love with someone they could never have.

Driven by some unknown force Sara walked over to him. She could see him try to repress a flinch as she stepped nearer. In one quick motion she threw her arms around the startled tech and hugged him tight laying her head on his shoulder. David stood there awkwardly for a moment then slowly closed his arms around her.

"Well...that wasn't the reaction I was expecting but then again you've always been a little nuts." Sara let go long enough to punch him in the shoulder.

"Prick. Don't you know a gay guy is a girls' best friend." Sara said pulling back a smile on her face. David felt his own smile widen. It had been a long time since he had let anyone know his secret and it felt good to get it off his chest. He closed his arms around her again, picking her up and twirling her around the lab as Sara giggled. He sat her down on her feet and then pulled away.

"So I'm your best friend?" He asked. Sara smiled again.

"The best." She replied. David laughed, a laugh so real and clear and warm that everyone including Greg turned to look into the trace tech's lab.

Greg's breath caught for a moment as he watched Hodges' face light up and then his heart did a quick jerk as said man leaned down and kissed Sara on the forehead. What was going on surly they weren't together were they? Greg looked down at the paper Mandy handed him, Match Found, but his heart didn't jump at the discovery. Instead it was lodged in his throat as he watched the two interact across the hall. What was going on, he thought to himself. I can't be jealous of Hodges, I got over my thing for Sara ages ago. So what, he paused as he watched Sara run a hand along David's arm and he was instantly angry. He wanted nothing more than to run over there and tear her hand off of David and snarl at her that he was taken and she needed to go chase after clueless bug geeks. Greg dropped his papers and his case file case in shock. He had just called Hodges David, thought of him as his, Greg's property.

He absently bent down to pick up the papers but stared into the other lab from under his lashes. His eyes traced over the tech as he leaned casually against his microscope chatting to Sara. How had Greg never noticed how handsome David was or had he on some unconscious level. His eyes traveled down David's body hidden underneath his blue lab coat, down his jean clad legs and Greg's breath hitched at the thought of those long limbs wrapped around him.

He cleared his throat and excused himself. he had to get out of here, before he did something stupid, like jump David Hodges in front of the whole lab.

David waved and smiled at Sara as she walked by the lab on her way to DNA laughing a bit as she stuck her tongue out at him from the other side of the glass. He was very grateful to the CSI for being understanding about his sexuality. David had on some level always known he was gay, he had dated mostly women until college and then realized his attraction to men. Over the years he had dated men exclusively and preferred it that way, but he had found when he was open about it his "friends" turned on him. So he felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders when Sara had accepted him. They had bonded fast over the last two weeks, spending their off time together going to movies and talking about their guy problems.

He knew there was talk about them, especially since he gave up on pretending to like Wendy, which had left the other woman confused. He smirked a bit as he processed some fibers. She thought she was so great. David had been with better looking partners than Wendy Simms could ever dream of. Everyone at the lab thought he was a snarky loser. He was single by choice, not because he couldn't get a date. Hell the hot guy taking tickets at the last movie he and Sara went to had offered David a very good time, but he was blonde and young and reminded David of one Greg Sanders.

And that was his problem, he loved Greg. That was why he didn't date, he knew there was no way Greg could return his feelings. He had seen the young DNA tech turned CSI flirt with just about anything in a skirt, so David kept his feelings secret and hoped that one day they might fade away. Then maybe, just maybe he could find someone to be happy with.

He heard a knock on his door frame and looked up to see Nick Stokes walk into his lab.

"Hey Hodges." He said. David nodded politely. Nick was the only other CSI that knew of Hodges preferences. Nick had finished a heartbreaking case and had ended up at the same bar David frequented. One fantastically drunken fumble in the back of David's car had led to some awkward moments between rounds of great sex until they decided they were better off as friends. He had a feeling that Nick was pinning for Warrick and had felt no ill will to the Texan after their brief affair had fizzled out.

"Hey Nick. I have those results for you." He handed Nick a case folder and went back to his processing. Nick looked them over.

"Thanks." He paused and David looked back up. "Hey Dave." Nick started. "Are you all right man?" David smiled touched.

"I'm fine." Nick nodded.

"It's just you seemed so down these last months. Are thing better?" David nodded.

"A bit. Hurricane Sara hit and forced me into the land of the living." David rolled his eyes. Nick laughed.

"So does she know about...?" Nick trailed off.

"About me...yeah, about you..no." Nick shrugged.

"I'm not worried about that, if she knows, she knows. I'm just glad you have someone who you can hang with... I" He stopped and leaned into David. "I can't get too close David. I just... I want to do things when I get close to you. Things that we don't need to do." Hodges swallowed and shuddered.

"Jesus Nick." He looked up with hooded eyes. Nick returned the heated gaze and trailed his fingers inside of David's lab coat. "We can't"

"Why not? They don't want us David. Aren't you tired of feeling like this?"

"I am and I.." He trailed off as something caught his attention from the hallway. Nick turned to see both Greg and Warrick staring at them. The younger one in shock, the older one in anger. David felt Nick tense and was surprised when he felt a hand on his cheek. He tore his gaze away from the occupants in the hall and had just a moment to make out Nick whispered "Let's show them what they're missing." before Nick's mouth came crashing down on his. David moaned, Nick was an excellent kisser so he lost himself in it until he was violently ripped away.

David stumbled back against the counter and opened his eyes to find a very pissed off Warrick Brown glaring at Nick, who stared back at him in confusion.

"What's your problem man!" Nick exclaimed.

"My problem?" Warrick asked. "I'm not the one making out with HODGES in the middle of the lab for all to see!" David looked around and almost corrected Warrick as it was the end of shift and the halls were deserted.

"I don't see how that's any of your business!" Nick yelled. Warrick moved and David could see Greg staring at everyone in shock half in the hallway and half in the lab. David motioned the younger man over to him and Greg walked over slowly leaning against the counter next to David. Greg opened his mouth to speak but David held up his hand and motioned to the other two men in the room. Greg nodded and turned to look at the arguing couple.

"Not my business! How can you say that? You were practically trying to fuck him against the counter!" Nick shook his head.

"Nah man we did that once, the position is awkward." Nick shrugged and Warrick stared at him his eyes wide with shock. Greg laugh a little under his breath at Warrick's expression then sobered when the words registered. David and Nick had had sex before, sex in the lab. Greg looked over at David who had his face in his hands. Greg was unsure of how he felt, on one hand he was happy because it meant that David was gay, on the other hand this was Nick, he didn't know if he could compete with the handsome Texan.

"You had sex with Hodges?" Warrick asked. Nick nodded. "More than once?" Nick nodded again. "How could you..." He trailed off. Nick got angry once again.

"What do you mean how could I? How could I be gay? Been that way my whole life man, every time I talked about a girl it was really a guy. Or how could I with David? I get so sick of how you guys treat him, like he's some big loser. Do you know how many guys he turns down a week, about as many girls as you do...in a month! It's not love, but he was there for me when you were off with your new wife, and he wanted me... and I got tired of waiting for you to see that I was in love with you." Warrick was speechless as he watch Nick dash out the lab. David shook his head sadly and watched Nick go. Greg looked from Warrick to the door.

"What are you waiting for man!" Greg exclaimed. "Go after him!" Warrick stood still for a second then smiled at Greg and ran out the door. It was silent for a moment.

"Did I miss something?" David asked. Greg laughed.

"Oh yeah. He's in love with Nick and filing for divorce. He was coming to ask him to breakfast and then tell him but got sidetracked by the show." David blinked.

"Oh." Greg was worried. Was David upset. He watched a slow smile spread across the tech's face. "Good for you Nicky." He said softly.

"You're not upset?" David looked at him puzzled.

"Why would I be?" Greg shrugged then toed the ground with his sneaker shoving his hand in his pockets. David sighed.

"I'm not in love with Nick. We just...look we were both going through the same problem and we just sorta fell into it. We don't love each other like that." David walked back over to his bench and began cleaning away his days work.

"You're in love with someone?" Greg asked his heart sinking. He had missed his chance. He had thought long and hard over the last two weeks about his feelings for David and like Warrick realized he was in love. David turned his back to Greg.

"I don't want to talk about it." But Greg couldn't let it go.

"Is it Grissom?" David turned to him shocked. "Good Lord no!"

"Ecklie."

"Now that's just gross."

"Bobby?"

"He's married. I'm not that dumb."

"Archie?"

"No way. He probably speaks klingon in bed."

"Henry?"

"That doesn't even deserve a response."

"Well WHO is it?" David shook his head and turned away again.

"I'm not talking about it! They don't want me. That's all you need to know." Greg watched David clean in silence for a moment.

"Then they are an unbelievable idiot." David snorted distracted.

"Don't talk about yourself that way." Greg eyes widened and David stiffened.

"What did you say?" Greg asked.

"Nothing." David finished his cleaning and hastily hung his lab coat up.

"What did you say?" Greg asked again. David moved to walk past but Greg blocked his exit.

"I didn't say anything Sanders. I'm tired, I want to leave and I don't need you to..." David was cut off by Greg's warm lips against his. Greg pulled back a bit, but David couldn't speak. Greg brushed their lips together again softly. David shuddered and pulled Greg flush against his body. Greg gasped into the kiss lightly biting down on David's lip his heart racing at the older man's moan. David brushed his tongue against Greg's lips sucking Greg's lower lip between his. Greg moaned and thrust his tongue inside David's mouth turning the kiss from gentle to demanding. He ran his hands up David's untucked shirt and pushed him until David was pinned against the glass wall by the door.

"Always...loved you." Greg said between kisses. David felt his eyes water as he took Greg's face in-between his hands and pulled away.

"I...love you...so so...much." David spoke trying to catch his breath.

"Thank God." Greg said closing his eyes. "Cause if you hadn't said what I thought you said, I'd look like a real idiot now." David smiled.

"You're always an idiot."

"Hey!" Greg exclaimed. David pulled him tight.

"But you're my idiot." Greg smiled.

"Yeah. Your idiot." David leaned down to kiss him again and for a few minutes both lost themselves in each other. They pulled apart and Greg leaned his head on David's shoulder. "We are never having sex in here." David laughed.

"Okay."

"I'm serious." David nodded.

"I know you are."

"I love you." Greg watched David eyes soften. He brought Greg's hand to his lips.

"I love you too."

"What?!" Both turned their head to find Wendy Simms staring at them in shock. David and Greg looked at each other and broke out into wide grins. "You were...were.."

"Kissing?" David supplied. Wendy shook her head yes.

"and...and.."

"Groping?" Greg asked. She shook her head again.

"How...I mean...I thought you and Sara and you flirted with me." David sighed.

"It's called denial Simms."

"Yeah." Greg chimed in. "You see he was sooo in love with me he transferred his affections onto all the other DNA techs cause he thought he couldn't have me."

"Thanks for that recap Sanders." Greg ignored him.

"But now that he knows I love him too we're going home to have wild monkey sex." Greg pulled David out the door. "So see ya!" He waved at a stunned Wendy as they walked down the hall.

"Remind me to thank you for that." David asked putting his arm around Greg.

"Oh don't worry." He pulled David into a quick kiss. "You'll be making it up to me tonight." David could only grin as they left the building into the clear Nevada morning.
