Challenge: 100 Drabbles – Horatio Caine/Timothy Speedle

Speed stood, paralyzed in fear. His parents were standing in the lobby of the lab. Horatio was in court and wouldn’t be back until the end of the day.

He remembered the soft words and loving embrace from the night before. He was not going to let his parents interfere with the life he had made in Miami. Horatio was right he was a different person. Here he was loved by a wonderful man. He had a real family.

He broke through his paralysis and confronted them. The shock on their faces was worth the churning stomach and sweaty palms. He was Timothy ‘Speed’ Speedle CSI Level 3, Detective in the Miami-Dade Police Department. If they didn’t like they could go home to New York and never think of him again.

Speed turned and walked away, his head held high and a smile on his face. He had a case to solve and, later, a lover to thank.
