Sofia and Sara have been dating for about six months now and it was getting
close to Christmas and not knowing too much about how Sara celebrated the
holiday; Of course Sara had told Sofia about all the abuse she suffered at the
hands of her parents, but nothing else about her younger years she thought she'd
ask her girlfriend.

"Hey there sweety what are your plans for this weekend?" Sofia asks Sara while
the two are waiting for Brass to bring the suspect from the case Sara had just
helped solve to interrogation.

"Nothing too much, probably just sleep Saturday and relax on Sunday...why what
do you have in mind?"

"Well I was wondering being that it's about 3 weeks until Christmas and being
that we haven't decorated our place yet, I was thinking that we could get a tree
and some decorations."

"Sofia, you know I always work on Christmas so really there isn't any point in
having all those things around the house," Sara says looking at Sofia.

Sofia noticed that Sara looked kind of sad when she told her 'no'; it was as if
Sara wanted to but for some reason something was holding her back, "No sweat
sweety..here comes Brass."

The interrogation was a success; the suspect confessed to the crime especially
after being confronted with the mountain of evidence Sara had collected, Sofia
thought it might be a good time to approach the subject of Christmas once more
while the two of them were driving home.

"Sara...I'm sorry I got you upset earlier when I asked you about Christmas."

"That's okay Sofia, it's just that my parents thought that Christmas was a waste
of time and money on someone they called 'a useless mistake'." Sara says trying
to fight the tears threatening to escape from her eyes.

"I'm so sorry baby, I didn't mean to make you cry," Sofia says as she pulls into
the parking lot of the apartment she and Sara share.

"That's okay honey, why do you think I work every Christmas...it keeps my mind
off the holiday, which reminds me I have to tell Grissom by the end of shift
tomorrow that I will be in on Christmas.

It was that moment when Sofia decided to give Sara the first Real Christmas in
her life; of course she'd have to have some help to pull it off, but she had an
idea how she could do it.

The following night before shift, Sara went to Grissom's office to tell him
she'd be working on Christmas, "I'm sorry Sara but we have all the staff we
need; Greg told me he was working this Christmas...something about his
girlfriend going out of town for the holiday and he didn't feel like celebrating
without her."

"But don't you need at least two CSIs during a shift?"

"Yes, that's why someone from the swing shift is working a double, I think it's
Jen Busch...and I will be supervising so don't worry about Christmas we have it
covered."

"Well okay thanks Grissom...I think."

"You're welcome...Assignments are up...crime doesn't take a
holiday...unfortunately."

Three weeks passed by quickly and during that time Sofia was a busy little elf;
she purchased a small table top tree that was already decorated and pre-lit,
some window decorations, gold and silver garland and even some mistletoe. Sofia
was smart enough to hide all the decorations in the basement storage unit for
her and Sara's apartment.

It was finally Christmas Eve, "Well honey I'm going to bed,...Good Night..I love
you."

"Good Night baby....and for what it's worth...Merry Christmas Sara.,,I love you"

Sofia made sure that Sara was sleeping soundly before going downstairs to
retrieve everything she bought; which included a gift for Sara.  It took Sofia
about a half an hour to put everything up, but she was able to do it without
waking Sara.

The next morning, the two women got up together and walked out into their living
room, Sara seeing the tree, decorations and the few gifts under the tree burst
into tears, "Honey what's the matter?" Sofia asked nervously.

"No one ever bothered to decorate or even get a tree for me while I was growing
up, I never even got any gifts...I never had a real Christmas...Thank you so
much Sofia," Sara says drying her eye and hugging and kissing Sofia.

"From now on you will have a real Christmas and everything that goes with
it...now come on you have gifts to open."

Sofia led Sara to the couch and handed her everything she bought for her which
included a CD of her favorite music, a book by her favorite author, and last but
not least a locket that when opened contains a picture; the picture Sofia put in
the locket was the first one they took together as a couple, it was at Greg's
birthday party six months earlier.

"Aww Sofia thank you so much for all this....but now I feel bad because I didn't
get you anything."

"Honey you are all I want, to see you happy is my gift, the love you show me
everyday is my gift...I love you Sara....Merry Christmas"

"I love you too, Sofia...Merry Christmas."
