It had been six months since Tony just disappeared and Jethro Gibbs was still pissed. The moment he found his wayward agent, he was going to get smacked and dragged back home where he belonged.

He glanced around the plane at his team. He snorted silently. Who was he kidding? They hadn't been a team since Kate died and it completely fell apart after Tony left. Ziva still acted like she was a free agent. McGee had reverted back to scared geek and Special Agent William Samuel Henderson the Third, known as Buddy to his friends was an ass. He resented the fact Madam Director forced him on to his team.

He missed Tony. His humor, smile, people skills, the fact he could do the job, and just him. He should have realized when he walked out the door after the 'dinner' incident, he was gone. Maybe he should add a third B to his name. One Bastard didn't cover it.

"When do we get there?" Buddy whined.

"When the plane lands," Gibbs growled.

Once again his team was hijacked for her cases. Captain Morrison was a witness to a murder up in Virginia. Captain Morison's father was a friend of William Samuel Henderson the Second, also known as Senator Henderson. So Gibbs was sent down to Miami personally to pick him up and bring him back to DC.

Forget dragging Tony back maybe he will just find him and join him where ever the hell he is.

~ Miami ~

Gibbs wasn't happy. He glared at the cop that stood in front of him.

"I don't care if you're the President. No one gets into that house until Lieutenant Caine shows up," Tripp glared at the agent.

"We're here to see Captain Morison," Buddy pointed out.

"Isn't that nice." Tripp rolled his eyes. "What part of ‘this is a crime scene’ do you not understand?"

"We're NCIS – Navy Criminal Investigation Service." Ziva held her badge. "Our job is to investigate crimes…"

"Yeah, I heard you the first three times." The Texan had never been so happy to see the Hummer pull up. "And as I said before. There is only one Marine in there, the other five victims are Miami citizens.   You will have to wait and talk with the redhead."

"Maybe Gibbs will woo her…" Buddy paused as the older man stepped in front of them. "Or not."

"Can I help you gentlemen, ma'am?" Horatio pulled up his phone and sent out a text message to his team. "Tripp has my team been called?"

"On their way," Tripp responded. "I think I hear Speed's bike."

"Special Agent Gibbs." Horatio grinned at the slight shock expression that filtered over the older man's face. "This investigation will be done by my team. I will allow your lab to help with processing, and your ME can chat with my ME."

"Captain Morison…" Ziva began.

"Is one of six dead," Horatio said. "If your agents actually have some people skills maybe you can chat with the neighbors." Horatio looked down at his phone then added, "Agent McGee can help with the investigation if that's good for you."

"How do you know my team?" Gibbs asked, even though he knew. The roar of a mustang confirmed it.

Horatio grinned. "My CSIs have great recruiting techniques."

Speed walked up to the small group. "H?"

Horatio looked up to see Eric and Tony walking up behind him. Tony didn't seem too nervous or upset. "I want you and Tony to photograph and sketch. Eric, check the perimeter. Calleigh, check the house. Agent McGee will be with you."

Tony nodded and turned to Gibbs. "Hey boss."

"Tony." Gibbs couldn't help but smile. He really did miss him.

"Come on probie let's go." He motioned to the house.

"I'm not on probation any more." McGee stated as he followed Tony.

"Here you are," Tony grinned as he put his arm around him. "Besides you'll always be my probie."

~ Arriving at the scene ~

Tony looked down at his pager. He glanced over at Eric. “Didn’t we already get paged to the crime scene?”

Eric tensed when he saw the message.

Tony looked over towards him. “What?”

“NCIS – Gibbs,” Eric read the message.

“Oh.” Tony paused. “I guess one day it had to happen. Let H know that we only work with McGee.”

Eric replied back to H, and then looked over at the new CSI. “You okay?” he asked laying his hand on Tony’s knee.

He gave the Cuban a bright smile. “Yes, as long as you’re here.” He squeezed his hand. “That and I can’t wait to see Horatio and Gibbs go at it. Oh and Alexx.”

Eric laughed. “We’re here.”

Tony got out of the car, slipped on his MDPD hat, grabbed his kit, and walked towards the scene.

“Hey boss.” It was good to see Gibbs, despite everything. Though he noticed instantly that Gibbs looked older, more tired.

~ Lab ~

“Tony?” Horatio walked up to his newest CSI.

Tony grinned, it was amazing how Horatio could ask so many questions in that one small statement. “I’m fine.”

He cocked his head slightly, eyebrow raised. “I don’t believe that.”

Tony gave him a true smile. In the past six months the team had been nothing but supportive.    He admittedly was a bit surprised when he woke up to find out Speed not only had a lover, but said lover had no issues with the fact that Tony had spent the night. Though Horatio had made it quite clear. He didn’t mind sharing Speed for one night, but the younger man belonged to the redhead. And the brunetdidn’t mind. He gave everything to Horatio and the older man took care of him in return. Part of him was extremely jealous, what he wouldn’t give to have that.

It had taken one trip to the lab for him to make the decision. In less than three days – Tony had sent in his resignation and arranged for his stuff to be packed and moved. He hadn’t regretted it.

“Honestly H, I’m fine,” Tony assured him. “It had to happen sooner or later. Though make sure I’m in the same room when Alexx….”

“The nerve of that man.”

“Speaking of...” The ex-agent turned towards the ME. “Alexx, I take it you met Gibbs.”

“Sugar, you are so much better off with us.” She smiled at the younger man and then fumed, “he just stormed into my autopsy and demanded a report.”

The two men cringed; no one – repeat no one – demanded anything from Alexx. “You did leave him alive didn’t you?” Horatio smiled at her.

Her eyebrow rose. “I didn’t lay a finger on him. Just gave him a piece of my mind.”

“Who?” Speed walked up to the small group.

“Gibbs and Alexx,” Tony said.

“And I missed it, damn ” The brunette smiled at the team’s mom.

“Honey, I just told him that if he thought he could bark and yell and get his way he had another thing coming,” Alexx said. “Then I told him if he messed with my boys he would answer to me.”

“There’s a sick part of me that wishes to see that.” Tony looked over at Speed.

“I know,” Speed responded.

“Speaking of reports?” Horatio asked.

“Here you go honey.” She handed him the report. “Everyone killed by a single gun shot to the head.”

“Execution style,” Tony said. “You think the Captain was the target?”

“No,” Speed answered.

Horatio turned towards his lover, “What makes you say that?”

“The place was robbed. Eric was able to pull their insurance policy to see what valuables they had.” Speed handed Horatio his report. “The Sampsons were a very wealthy family. The Captain was down visiting his fiancée, Amanda.”

“How much is missing?” Horatio glanced over the inventory.

“Everything small and of high value, including Amanda’s engagement ring,” Speed answered. “I think our Captain was a victim, just like the rest of the family, of a home invasion, not any type of conspiracy to take out a witness.”

“Have you shown this to NCIS?” Horatio asked.

“No.” Speed shrugged. “Why would I tell them? No offense Tony…”

“That isn’t my team,” Tony sighed. It had taken him less than a minute to realize that the team he once knew was gone. McGee was the scared kid once again. Ziva was even more of a bully and, he shook his head, don’t even get him started on the new guy.

“H.” Eric looked extremely upset. “There’s a conference call for you. Seems the NCIS director isn’t happy.”

“Why am I not surprised?” Tony rolled his eyes then grinned. “Can I be there? Oh, please let me be there.”

Horatio smiled at the younger man. “I think the NCIS director needs to understand we work as a team here in Miami.”

~ Video Conference ~

“Lieutenant Caine…” Director Sheppard started the conversation coolly.

“Director Sheppard, how can I help you this afternoon?” Horatio politely responded.

“By turning over my case to Agent Gibbs,” she demanded.

Horatio eyebrow went up. “Your case?”

“Captain Morrison was essential in a case and the fact that he was killed before he could testify…”

“You’re assuming he was killed because he witnessed a murder.” Horatio shook his head.

Sheppard glanced over at Gibbs. “That is what had been reported to me.”

Tony looked over at Gibbs; he knew Jethro would not have reported a thing without the evidence to back it up. The older man’s eyes narrowed as he turned and looked at the new NCIS agent. Tony paused, the ex-Marine was pissed and ‘Buddy’ didn’t seem to care. The man was either well protected or stupid.

“I haven’t talked with you Jen. I'm not sure where you getting your information.” Jethro turned back to the conference. “After interviewing the neighbors the evidence was moving towards the fact this case has nothing to do with our case. Morrison was a victim of a random crime.”

Tony grinned, that’s his Jethro. “We have evidence that the family was the victim of a home invasion.”

Jen ignored Tony. “Doesn't change the fact that this is a NCIS case…”

“The hell it is.” Speed glared up at the woman. “Five Miami citizens died, only one Marine. Just because he’s the son of a Senator doesn’t mean he take precedence over the other five lives.”

“Speed.” Horatio laid a hand on his arm.

The brunette turned towards Horatio and bowed his head. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay.” The redhead smiled, then turned back to Director Sheppard. “I don’t think you understand Director Shepard. We do things differently here in Miami. We speak for those who can’t, bring justice to the victims. We don’t do our job at the whim of the politicians.”

Jethro hid his grin. He was starting to like Lieutenant Caine. He could see why Tony would want to work for him.

“Hey Speed!” Abby’s voice rang out from the background. “I've got that comparison done for you.”

Jethro’s head snapped up. “Abby?”

“Bossman.” Her smile got bigger when she saw Tony. “Hey, Tony how’s Miami?”

“Good Abs, you should come down and we can go surfing, again,” the ex-agent grinned.

“So cool.” She bounced. “Hey red.”

Horatio shook his head. “Abigail, what info do you have for us?”

Sheppard turned towards Abby. “You’ve been in communication with them?”

“Yeah, Speedy sent me some fingerprints to run them through the military databases and also some DNA samples.” She turned to Speed. “The fingerprints came back no match, the DNA is still being run.”

“Why wasn’t I informed?” Jen demanded.

Abby just looked at her. “Since when do I have to tell you about every test I run. Besides, bossman said to work with the Miami team with the evidence.”

“Jethro.” Jen turned towards the ex-Marine.

“Its called inter-agency cooperation, besides this isn’t related to our case, the perps aren’t military so it’s no longer our jurisdiction.” Jethro stated.

“But Captain Morrison…” Buddy spoke up.

“What? Gets special attention because he’s the son of a Senator?” Speed demanded. “What about the other five? What are your plans for them?”

“Their deaths were tragic, but the Feds can do…” Ziva started to say.

“Florida’s got the death penalty,” Abby pointed out.

“Maybe you should move down there,” Sheppard threatened.

“Abby knows there’s a place open for her in the lab.” Horatio smiled at the hyper lab tech. “Though she would have to share it with Speed.”

Abby sighed dreamily. “I do like his mass spectrometer.”

“No touching my toys.” Speed grinned at her.

“Horatio.” Calleigh stepped into the room. “We've got another home invasion, same MO.”

“Let's go.” Horatio slipped on his glasses and left the room, followed by Tony and Speed.

“Jethro.” Jen’s voice was hard.

“The case is out of our jurisdiction. We’ll be on the way home by this afternoon.” Jethro moved for the exit.

“I want you to stay and make sure it’s handled properly,” Sheppard demanded. “I’m going to call a few people and get it moved to federal jurisdiction.”

Jethro turned and left the room. Retirement was starting to look really good.

~ Next Day ~

Jethro walked through the lab, heading for Caine’s office.   He wanted to see if there was anything he could do to help. He had watched the redhead’s team at work. It was a good team, Tony fit in perfectly. His people skills, getting the witness to talk, his smiles and flirting, pulling info from unsuspecting suspects, and he seemed to be enjoying it. Tony looked much younger; he hadn’t realized the stress the younger man had been under until now.

In fact the team reminded him of what his team used to be. Before Kate’s death. Before Jen Sheppard decided to make his life a living hell.

It had taken Tony less than a day to get McGee back to his normal self, easily fitting in with the rest of the Miami group, working out problems by discussing them. Tony had found himself a home – a family. A very protective family.

Horatio watched over his crew with diligence, if there was any sign of trouble he was sniffing it out. He was there for his team; a mentor, father figure, and friend. He went in to bat for them, protected them from the higher ups, and they, in return, were fiercely loyal to the redhead.

Alexx Woods was a mother hen to the extreme; he hoped to God she never met and teamed up with Ducky. She protected her family like a mother bear. Gibbs had no doubt in her mind she would hurt anyone that messed with her family. She faced him head on and that earned her a lot of respect from the older Marine.

The blonde ballistics expert was a force to reckon with. He snickered when Buddy made a comment about how it was a shame such a pretty girl wasted her time on guns and that she could cock his weapon anytime. Gibbs had been ready to yell at his agent, but then stood back and watched as Calleigh ripped him a new one. She was smart, sassy, and took guff from no one – and she carried a gun. She reminded him of Kate; there were days he truly missed the ex-secret service agent.

Speed was the type of man that Gibbs would watch for in the Marines, quiet and deadly. He gave the term 'still waters run deep' a whole new meaning. He might look scruffy and unkempt, but he knew what he was doing. Those eyes took in everything and calculated what had to be done. More than once Gibbs had caught those eyes on him, studying him.

The Cuban Russian was protective and fierce. He had made it clear if Gibbs hurt one hair on Tony’s head his body would disappear. It wasn’t hard to figure out that the two were lovers. He wondered for how long.

“Agent Gibbs.” Horatio looked up as his door opened.

“I’m here to warn you, Jen is one pissed off woman and is on the war path.” Gibbs informed him.

Horatio grinned. “She assumes that as a stupid cop in Miami I have no play in federal politics.”

“She alwayswas bad at reading people.” Jethro shook his head.

“Like Tony?” the redhead asked.

The ex-Marine sighed. “I screwed that up. I made a faulty judgment call…”

“Excluding a team member from a team function…” Horatio eyed him.

“I had no idea Tony wasn’t invited, I got forced there by Jen. I teased him about the food because I figured he had found a way out,” Jethro sat down. “My bad judgment call was that I should have realized that Ziva and Jen were up to no good.”

“Have you told Tony this?” the Lieutenant asked.

“Didn’t get a chance, by the time I figured what Jen was up to, he was gone.” He glanced down to see Tony talking with Speed and Eric. “Been looking for him ever since.”

“Going to try to recruit him back?” Horatio asked, voice hard. He had come to care about Tony. He had not been kidding when he told Speed that Tony reminded him of Speed in the days before the shooting. The ex-agent had been at his breaking point. In the past six months he watched the young man flourish. And lately the smile had been bright and he knew for a fact a certain Cuban Russian had something to do with it.

Jethro watched Tony with Eric. His heart hurt knowing he screwed up so bad that he would now never have a chance. He knew Tony was happy here, he was in an environment were he could grow and become a fine CSI. With a team that supported him, a boss that encouraged him, a lover that loved him. What right did he have to get in the middle?

“I wouldn’t wish what has happened at NCIS on my worse enemy.” Gibbs turned towards the redhead. “He’s better off here.”

“But?” Horatio’s eyebrow rose.

“I can’t help but feel you stole him.” Jethro looked back. “He left and never came back. What did you do to get him to stay?”

Horatio grinned. “Speed and Tony are old friends.”

~*~

“Speed.” Tony walked up to the trace expert. “I think I found a connection between the two families.”

“What?” he asked.

“Amanda and Captain Morrison had recently been engaged.” Tony informed him. “Julia Johnson had also recently gotten engaged.”

“And that connects how?” Ziva asked as she walked up.

Tony ignored her. “The engagement rings were bought at the same jewelry store.”

“Way to stake out rich clients?” Speed theorized.

“That’s a weak connection,” Ziva sneered. “The two families have connections in social circles also.”

Speed looked at her. “You are what level CSI?”

“I’m a trained Moussad agent…”

“Which means crap here.” The Trace expert turned back to Tony. “I know you have more.”

“Of course I do.” Tony was hiding his smile. He was enjoying Speed’s disses on Ziva. The man’s sarcastic wit was great at any time, but give him a target he just flourished. “The jewelry store recommended a wedding consultant, both women went to them. Two days before the invasions each couple had a meeting at their house with the consultants.”

Speed grinned. “It’s a start. What jewelry store?”

Tony looked down at the sheet. “Custom Jewelers…” He looked down at his pager. “Damn that’s Valera on my rape case, can you check it out?”

Speed hesitated then took the sheet with the address. “Sure.”

“I’ll go with,” Ziva stated. “Since we are working with you on the case.”

“You are?” Speed blinked. “What exactly have you done? Oh, that’s right; terrorize the neighbors who actually filed a complaint against you.”

“This is a joint case…”

Speed growled lightly. “I’m driving and if you step out of line…”

“You’ll what?” Ziva glared. “I’m a trained agent, you can’t even handle your own gun.”

Speed turned and walked away. Tony glared at her. “Grow the fuck up.”

She stared at Tony in shock as he left her standing in the hallway. Her eyes narrowed at the retreating form. She had worked hard to remove her obstacle to be second in command of Gibbs team; it was easier than she thought. But it hadn’t worked out like she figured; Sheppard had placed ‘Buddy’ in Tony’s place. He was worse than Tony and better protected.

~ Custom Jewelers ~

Speed stared at the front of the shop.   He was shaking, sitting on the verge of a panic attack. He hated jewelry stores ever since that fateful day, but for Custom Jewelers to be in the same location. A part of his mind had really wondered what the odds were.

“You coming?” Ziva snapped.

The CSI took a deep breath and walked into the store. He crushed the urge to keep his hand on his weapon.

“NCIS I have a few questions…” Ziva confronted the woman who walked up to them.

“I’m Tamatha Henderson, how can I help you?” She smiled at Ziva then turned towards Speed then paled lightly. She recognized the young man who had almost lost his life in the store. She had bought the store off Rudy for cheap, and worked hard to make it into a reputable store.

“We have questions about Captain Morrison…” Ziva began.

“Detective Speedle, would you like to move to my office or sit down?” She asked, pulling the officer away from the lobby. Tamatha was concerned at how pale the young man was. He kept looking back down at the floor in front of him.

Speed shook his head and looked at the woman. “It’s okay. We have some questions about two of your clients.”

“Which two?” she asked walking towards her office hoping to get them out of the lobby for the detective sake.

“Captain Morrison,” Ziva answered.

Speed rolled his eyes,.“Amanda Sampson and Julia Johnson.”

“Oh yes, I read about them in the papers. They were customers here?” Tamatha asked, a bit shocked. She was beginning to wonder if the place was cursed.

“They both bought their engagement rings here.” Speed looked up when a loud noise startled him. He looked around the past and present mixing. Suddenly the back door banged open and loud voices echoed through the room.

Speed turned and left the building. He bent over the small bushes and lost his breakfast. He had been seconds from pulling his gun. Everything was mixing in his mind, the sound of gunfire in his ears, a sharp pain in his chest, Horatio’s soft voice begging him to hold on.

“It’s okay Speed, I've got you.”

The young man looked up confused, “Horatio?”

“Tony didn’t recognise the address or know about your small phobia of jewelry stores.” Horatio gave him some water. “The moment he told me I got here as soon as I could.”

Speed rinsed his mouth out and a choked sob broke through. “I almost pulled my gun. I could have hurt someone.”

“Let’s get you home.” Horatio eased him towards the Hummer.

“Well now I know why Tony does so well here, he’s not the only pathetic agent in the bunch,” Ziva sneered at the CSI.

Horatio turned on the NCIS Agent his eyes hard and deadly. “I trust my team with my life, can you say the same?”

Gibbs stared at his team. “Agent David.”

“What? If he can’t cut it, he shouldn’t be working in the field.”

“Not everyone is perfect like you,” Tony stated from the sidelines. He had helped Horatio get Speed into the Hummer then turned to his ex-team. “I mean really. You drive worse than Gibbs, can shoot better than him if you tried, you're better at interrogation, can outsmart any suspects, be a crack shot investigator without training, profile better than Kate, if you tried you'd probably be a better DNA specialist than Abby and hack into computers like McGee. When in reality you will always be under your brother's shadow – daddy will never look to you because you’re just a girl.”

“What? How?” Ziva stared at him.

“Oh please, you thought only Gibbs knew Ari was your brother? We all knew,” Tony smirked. “You’re not the only one with connections, honey. Everyone at NCIS thinks you’re a fucking joke. You are only there because Sheppard pushed you onto Gibbs team and he kept you around to see what the bitch was up to. If you actually thought you would be his second in command after I left, you were sadly mistaken. Because Gibbs doesn’t hand his command over to kissass Moussad agents who have a hair trigger and kill suspects in their custody.”

With that Tony turned and walked away. Gibbs smiled at the shocked look on Ziva's face. She obviously read people as well as Jen did.

~ The Next Day ~

“Once we figured out which sales agent worked with both women, we were able to track down the consultants and shut down their operation,” Tony said as he walked Gibbs down to the taxi.

“Good job.” Gibbs smiled at his ex-agent.

“It was a team effort.” Tony shrugged.

“You have a good team.” Jethro paused then turned and faced Tony. “I’m sorry.”

“Never say you’re sorry.” Tony smiled. “You taught me that. I know now what happened had nothing to do with you, but instead solely Ziva and Jen.”

“But you won’t come back,” Gibbs said.

“No.” Tony shook his head.

“I ruined any chance we might have had, didn’t I?” Jethro’s blue eyes locked with Tony’s expressive hazel.

Tony looked down and then back up, his eyes full of sadness and regret. “I’ve moved on, Jethro.”

Gibbs nodded and looked up the stairs towards the young man waiting for the ex-agent. “Was there a chance at one time?”

“Another place, another time,” Tony said wistfully, he then put on a small smile. “It was nice working with you again, but I think you need to Gibbs-smack your team.”

Jethro smacked Tony on the back of the head, then gently caressed the soft locks. “I only smack those that I like.”

The younger man grinned. “Then beat the shit out of ‘Buddy’ the man is annoying as hell.”

Jethro laughed. “Will you keep in touch?”

Tony shook his head. “It’s not a good idea.” He looked back at Eric then turned to Jethro. “I need to go and you have a plane to catch.”

“Tony…” Jethro paused.

“I never regretted meeting you or working with you. You helped me become the man I am today and for that I thank you.” Tony held out his hand.

Jethro took it in a strong grip, then pulled him into his arms hugging him tight. “I’m proud of you.”

Tony stepped back tears in his eyes. “That means a lot. Goodbye.” He turned and walked up the stairs to Eric.

"How is Speed?" Tony asked the younger man.

"Horatio has given everyone the day off, personally I think it's just so he can go and baby his lover." Eric smiled. "Over all he's doing fine, still shook up. I think he's freaked more that he almost pulled his gun, than seeing the store itself."

"Red takes good care of him," Tony sighed.

Eric pulled him out of sight of those milling around the precinct. "Let me take you home, and take care of you."

~ *~

The moment they arrived at Tony’s apartment Eric pulled him into his arms. Tony held him close, relishing the feel of his lover. The Cuban slowly began to kiss his way up Tony’s long elegant neck, the ex-agent titled his head giving his lover better access. Eric moved the two of them back to the bedroom, determined to make sure Tony forgot all about NCIS and one Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Tony let his lover strip him expertly and lay him out on the bed. His hazel eyes going golden with lust as he looked up into the dark eyes of the man he had come very close too, maybe even to love.

Eric quickly prepped him and slid into Tony’s quivering body. Tony wrapped his long lean legs around his chest to pull him in deeper. The Miami native set a slow and easy pace, drawing out the pleasure, in time both men were covered in sweat, lost in the feel of each others bodies.

“Please … Eric…” Tony moaned thrusting upward, wanting to find completion. “I need to …”

Eric thrust in hard causing both men to moan in pleasure. “Is that what you want?”

“Yes…God yes.” The ex-agent gripped the sheets as Eric began to pound into him hard and fast.

Eric reached between them and took Tony’s hard cock and began stroking him in time with each thrust. In moments Tony through his head back and screamed out Eric’s name as he came, sending Eric straight over the edge. He thrust in hard and spilled his seed deep inside his lover.

Tony whimpered as Eric slipped out of his body. “Shh…I've got you.” Eric cooed.   He got up and cleaned the two of them up before curling up next to his lover to rest.

As the two drifted off to sleep, with Tony curled into Eric’s arms. The Cuban tensed when he heard his lover mutter the ex-Marines name as he drifted off to sleep. Eric swore at that moment he would not lose Tony to Jethro. He would make sure Tony was content, happy and loved with everything he had.

~ Six Weeks Later ~

“You’re retiring?” Jen screeched.

“You seem surprised.” Jethro backed up his desk.

Jen stared at him. “Of course I’m surprised. You’re my best agent.”

Gibbs stopped and looked at her. “I am not your agent.”

“You know what I meant.” She placed her hands on her hips. “God, Tony leaves and you just…”

The ex-Marine eyes flashed. “Don’t even go there. You with your little lap dog worked to remove him from my team. And when you succeeded you found out there was no team without Tony.”

“You have a perfectly capable…”

Jethro laughed, “You believe that? ‘Buddy’ is an ass, Ziva is a little too much like her brother, and you’ve pushed the only capable agent back into the lab.”

“They need you to lead them…”

“Find another patsy for your games, I’m going to Mexico.” Jethro grabbed his bag and walked out of the bullpen.

~ Miami ~

Jethro waited until he knew Eric had left for work. A part of him knew this was wrong. He should have gone to Mexico, but the Marine in him was not going to give up the only person he had loved besides Shannon. If anything these past six weeks had showed him was that he wasn’t half the man he could be with Tony at his side.

He slipped out of the car and walked up the walk to Tony’s apartment. He knocked and waited.

“You have a key…” Tony paused. “Boss?”

“Tony.” Jethro smiled. “May I come in?”

“Ahhh… sure.” Tony opened the door shocked to see the NCIS agent at his door. “What brings you to Miami?”

“I retired,” Jethro stated simply.

“What?” The younger man stared at him. “When? Why?”

“It’s been building since you left, but the past few weeks clinched it,” Jethro said as he looked around the room, it was very Tony.

“Jethro?” Tony questioned.

“There was a hostage situation. ‘Buddy’ was in charge because I gave myself up to the perp,” the ex-Marine explained.

“Why did you do that?” Tony demanded.

“He was fifteen and wanted to see his mother, he was wired with a bomb.” Gibbs turned and looked out the window. “If it wasn’t for McGee coming up with away to loop the feed that was going back to the actual men pulling the fifteen year old's strings I would have died.”

“That’s my probie.” The ex-agent smiled. “What did he do?”

“There was a live feed to the ones running the show. McGee tried to think what you would you do, then remembered a movie you talked about, found the frequency, and looped the feed.” Jethro had been very proud of McGee.

“Speed,” Tony grinned. “Good movie. What happened to the fifteen-year-old?”

“’Buddy’ ordered the sniper to take the shot,” Jethro growled.

Tony closed his eyes. “Oh God,” then realizing the situation. If the feed hadn’t been looped they would have blown the place.”

“Not much later there was a situation, an explosion went off and I was caught in it.” Jethro turned towards Tony. “I woke up only remembering my wife and child that died.”

“Shannon and Kelly?” Tony asked.

“Yeah.” Jethro’s voice became quiet. “Over time I started to remember more, but I kept asking for you and Kate. I wanted my team. Once my memory fully returned and I looked at what my team had become I knew it was time to retire.”

“And you’re here in Miami?” Tony asked.

“I sold the house, packed the boat, found a nice place by the water where I can finish building her.” Jethro stepped closer to Tony. “I think you know why I came to Miami.”

“Jethro… it’s not a good idea,” The ex-agent's voice dropped.

“It's not too late.” Gibbs’ hand slipped into Tony’s hair pulling him close. “I’m not going to always wonder what if.”

He pulled Tony into a deep kiss, demanding entrance into the warm mouth. Tony moaned giving Jethro’s tongue access. The CSI slipped his arms around Gibbs and pulled him close ,their bodies grinding against each other. The kiss was hard and demanding from both sides.

Tony pulled out of Jethro’s arms panting slightly. “I need you to leave.”

Jethro moved towards the door. “I’m not giving up on us.”

“I’m with Eric,” the younger man pointed out.

“Do you love him?” Jethro asked.

Tony hesitated then answered, “Yes.”

The ex-Marine smiled as he opened the door. “You will be mine.” With that he left.

Tony sagged onto the chair, his heart pounding. Part of him was thrilled, the other horrified. Leroy Jethro Gibbs didn’t back down or give up without a fight. And he knew Eric would fight to the end. He was torn between two strong willed men, neither would back down.

“Oh Shit.”

Author’s Note:

There’s obviously going to be a third story in the series. I've got a idea of what I'm going to do – cause really there are three options: Tony stays with Eric, Gibbs wins Tony back, or………..
