He could feel him breathing on his neck now. Short, hot breaths that somehow sent shivers down his spine despite their heat. And cold fingers unbuckling his belt slowly, lingering just long enough to make him wonder what would come next. The air was ripe with frustration. The kind he actually welcomed; waited for; dreamt about. Autopilot; functioning solely as an extension of himself when his mind was racing too quickly to stop for thoughts.

This was beyond thinking. It had happened. It was happening now, clumsy and messy and hot. There was nothing left between them but passion and frustration, and years of longing on his part, at least. He felt numb. Out of place and perfectly placed at the same time. Relieved and horribly concerned all over again. He feared he was dreaming another one of those dreams that left him so satisfied and so painfully empty. And even more full of contradictions.

He moved ever so slowly down Nick's body, his tongue leaving a DNA trail down the salty flesh of his partner's neck, chest, and stomach. No sound but air blowing itself violently in his ears and through his mind. The silence was deafening, interrupted every so often by a soft moan that he was sure was created by his own imagination. Creation or not, they still made him insane. And they got louder, one by one until he was almost convinced of his own consciousness, but not completely willing to open his eyes to be certain. Don't let it be another dream.

Eyes open and fully aware, he stands up. "I-I'm dreaming again, aren't I?"

"Of course you are, Greg. For the sixth time this week."

"I thought so."

"You really can't get a handle on this reality thing, can you?"

"Guess not, Nicky. Do I have to wake up now?"

"Look, G: You already did. And I'm still here. Have been for two weeks. Will you ever realize that I'm actually here, and I exist? Not solely as a figment of your imagination?"

Greg shook his head in disbelief, and their lips met. And he realized for the sixth time that week that it was real.
