Sitting in the sticky seat of Nick's Tahoe for two hours was the least of Greg's worries, trying to sit still and attempt to not make any "embarrassing" sounds as the rough road jolted him side to side was another thing. He could see Nick smiling out of the corner of his eye every time he shifted in his seat and his sweat caused a squelching sound against the leather.

Greg couldn't decide what he found so sexy about Nick right now as he faced the chiseled face. Was it the wind from the open window blowing through his dark hair, or the bead of sweat slowly running down the side of his head, the way his black t shirt clung to his sweaty body or those thick muscular arms which glistened in the sun?

Greg felt something stir in his pants which he tried to cover up by turning his body away from Nick and looked out of the window into nothingness, whilst thinking about the man sat a foot away from him.

Ever since the first day Nick walked into his lab to greet him he knew he was the one for him. Regardless of him being straight, Greg wanted the ladies man all to himself and wouldn't settle for anything less. He would think about Nick first thing in the morning the last thing at night. They had a good friendship, some chemistry and would occasionally flirt which Greg loved but he knew that to Nick it was just another way of joking around. Every morning as a Lab rat, Greg would wait for Nick to walk past and wink or pop his head through the door so say hi. The closest he ever got the Nick was in his dreams. As they were becoming more frequent, more detailed more...erotic. This was mainly because the two had spent a lot more time together since he became a CSI. Sure he wanted to get out into the field, interact with people and suspects but also he wanted to be around Nick. To be more than a subordinate, more than just a science geek. He wanted to be equal with Nick. He felt if there ever were a chance between them two, it would be if he was a CSI.

Nick looked at Greg as the slim blond figure turn to look at the sandy abyss beyond the window. His eyes trailed from the spiky blond hair to the back of the neck, the slim waist to the exposed skin were Greg's shirt had ridden up. Unconsciously he licked his lips. For the past few years he knew he was attracted to Greg and for so many years he had done nothing about it. He wasn't one to hold back but this was different. This was major. Not only was in inappropriate for him to have a relationship with a co-worker...but with a male co-worker? The first day he met Greg he was attracted to him. Not just because he was cute, but because he was quirky, weird, yet so intelligent, full of life and energy. That's what he was most attracted to. He loved what he had with Greg but he knew he wanted to be more than just colleagues or friends, but he didn't want to loose what they had. He loved flirting with Greg and tried to hide the fact that he was genuinely flirting by turning it into a joke.

Suddenly there was the loud sound of the blaring horn from a truck. He had gone onto the wrong side of the road without realising it. He corrected the SUV and continued to pay attention to the road.

Greg shot up in his seat and looked at Nick. Not saying anything hoping his shocked expression said it all knowing Nick could see him out of the corner of his eye.

The long absence of conversation was filled by the slow beats of country music coming from the stereo. Greg always wondered how Nick could listen to that crap which he so obviously enjoyed. He was tapping his fingers to the tune on the steering wheel.

They turned off the main road and headed towards a mountain range along an uneven and rough dirt road.

Thud!

"Ow!" Greg moaned as his head slammed into the side window. Nursing his bruised head whilst trying not to mess up his masterpiece of a hairstyle.

"Hold on there. Or you'll mess up your hair." Nick said with a smirk on his face which Greg just replied with narrowed eyes and pierced lips.

"That's the fourth time now! Do you think you could slow down a bit?"

Even though Nick slowed down Greg still hit his head against the window, which eventually he started to enjoy as it made Nick laugh. As they got the base of the mountain Nick slowed the SUV down and pulled over on the dusty road.

As they walked to the trunk they both stretched relieving their aching muscles. Greg side glanced through the SUV's windows to catch a look at Nicks flexing abs and he wasn't disappointed.

"Get your kit...oh and did you bring a jacket?" Nick asked as he opened the trunk.

"We're in the middle of the desert, in boiling weather and you expect me to bring a jacket?" Greg said with a little too much sarcasm as he retrieved his kit and camera.

"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you we may be up there for a while and it gets real' cold at night" Nick said pulled on his rucksack.

"Well I expect to be back home in my nice comfy bed before it gets dark"

Nick raised an eyebrow and turned, walking to the base of the mountain and putting his sunglasses on. Unknown to Greg, Nick was imagining the young CSI half naked snuggled up to a pillow moaning his name. He quickly snapped out of it as he heard Greg jog a little to catch up.

"So, er, how come we can't take a helicopter to drop us off at the scene instead of climbing this fricking mountain?"

"The downdraught from the rotor could contaminate the scene, you know, blow away any evidence."

"But wasn't it a tourist helicopter that found the body?"

"Yeah, but they weren't directly over the body, the rocks were in the way."

"I still don't see how were can't just get dropped of near there" he said pointing to the large outcrop in the mountain.

The heat was already getting to Nick and the last thing he wanted was Greg's babbling nonsense in his ear all the way up to the crime scene.

Nick spun on his heel "Look, we're here now, there's no point of getting a chopper okay?" saying it with a little authority in his tone which he could tell took Greg back a little. "Besides it's a good work out." He added softly and flashing one of those smiles that made Greg weak at the knees.

As they both stood at the base Greg looked up at the mountain with awe "I should have taken the floater in Lake Mead"

"You'd rather have bloated, body that reeks and has been in water for god knows how long... than be in the outdoors with amazing views with me for a day?" Nick said as he started to climb the rocks with a smile on his face. He knew the "me" would have gotten Greg's attention.

Not knowing how to reply, Greg just followed Nick up the mountain trying to concentrate on his footing and where his hands were, instead of that perfect firm ass in front of him, framed by those dark jeans that hugged the Texans hips and thighs. He just wanted to grab them just to see how they felt. Again there was a stir in his pants.

"Snap out of it" Greg murmured

"What's that?" Nick stop and looked back.

Greg was looking down and continued up not realising Nick stopped.

"Huh?" He said as his face went straight into Nick's ass as he looked up.

"Oh god! Sorry...I...er....didn't know you stopped." Greg turned bright red with embarrassment which Nick always found sexy.

Nick burst out laughing "You know Greggo, there are other ways of getting me to give in a good word to Grissom about you other that kissing my ass." he continued to laugh to himself and continued up.

"Very funny Nick!" Greg said through gritted teeth. All he could think about on the way up was how he could have been so careless.

It took about an hour to climb to the crime scene, a large flat outcrop surrounded on three sides by low flat walls of rock and brush. A young woman lay face down in the dirt with shredded clothing and a blood pool splaying out from her head. It was hard getting there but it was definitely worth it. The view was the most amazing thing other than Nick, Greg had ever seen. Already the sun was slighting going down turning the sky into a surreal mix of orange and yellow.

"Have...you ever...seen anything more...amazing?" Greg said panting while turning on his camera and taking a photo.

Nick was staring at Greg as he took off his rucksack "Yeah...I have" a small smile emerged on his face. Greg looked at Nick and felt his face redden again.

He coughed a little then tried to get his words out "So...er...I guess we should process the scene."

"Yeah, but don't touch the body. We need to wait until David gets here." Nick advised putting his pulling out his kit and wrapping his camera around his neck.

"That will be a while, he drives like an OAP with cataracts." They both laughed and spread out. They processed the scene fairly quietly only breaking the silence with short explanations of possible evidence they found.

Two hours had passed and still David hadn't arrived, they had processed the scene and it was getting pretty dark. The sky was now a dark red and the moon was already visible. Greg was starting to regret not bringing a jacket and goose bumps were already crawling up his arm due to the chill wind blowing around. He was sitting on the ground back against the rock. Nick on the other hand was sitting on a rock a few feet away wrapped up in his thick warm jacket overlooking the city in the distance. The body lay motionless between them.

"Hey. You got any reception on your cell yet?" Greg shouted from the other side of the body as he shut his cell phone.

"Let me check" Nick replied as he fumbled in his pockets. "Yeah. Just one bar. I'll try calling him again."

Greg just nodded.

"Hey David! Where the hell are you? Greg and I have been here for hours now! Yeah it cut out before...I thought so...Okay..." Nick closed the phone and exhaled loudly, head between his knees.

"You'll never guess what happened?" He said turning his head to face Greg.

"He got lost?" Greg quizzed with a raised eyebrow

"Uhuh." Nick nodded. They both laughed at the same time. It was really dark now and Greg was starting to shiver but Nick didn't notice as he was perched up on a rock wall, eyes closed.

"Hey you think we could start a fire with some of that brush?"

"Can't...it'll contaminate the scene."

"But we've already processed it."

"I told you to bring a jacket." Nick said as he watched Greg wrap his arms around his legs rocking back and forth. He felt sorry for Greg who was wearing nothing but a white shirt, ripped jeans from the climb up and a pair of converse. The way he was sitting down, curled up, allowed Nick to see Greg's exposed back and black boxers. He would offer his jacket but didn't want to get cold himself. Before he knew it he was standing up and unzipping his jacket and walk to Greg.

"You...er...wanna get in here with me?" Nick couldn't believe what he was proposing but Greg was so adorable right now and just wanted to embrace the younger man.

Greg just looked straight up at Nick who was stood in front of him blocking the sunlight like a giant. Greg didn't know what to say. He knew he needed to, to keep warm. He knew wanted to. To snuggle up against that firm chest with Nicks arms around him.

"Er...okay...I guess." He said nervously trying to make it sound like he had no choice. Nick offered his hand to Greg to help him up.

Nick felt a surge of electric run through his entire body and Greg's cold smooth hand clasped around his own. Greg was now face to face with Nick, he hesitated not knowing where to put his hands or where to look as Nick opened himself to him.

"Today man. I'm loosing heat." Nick said not taking his eyes off Greg's.

Greg shuffled forward until both their chests were touching each other. Already Greg felt warm but he was still shivering, but this time from nerves. He had never been this close to Nick before. He was in Nick's personal space. He could feel Nick's abs and pecks pressing against his own. His feet either side of Nick's caused the whole length of their thighs to touch each other. His arms were still pulled into his sides not knowing what to do with them, his shoulders as tense as ever.

"Relax G, I won't bite." Nick's arms wrapped around his waist pulling Greg closer. His hands were moving up and down Greg's back trying to warm him up. "Better?"

"Yeah. Much better" Greg whispered as he bravely wrapped his own arms around Nick's waist and propped his head on Nick's shoulder. This was heaven. He wanted to stay like this forever, he felt like a part of Nick. This felt so right yet he knew that this would be the closet he would ever get to Nick. It was so magical right now and he felt like he and Nick were the only two people on the planet. He adjusted his head so that his cheek was on Nick's shoulder and his mouth centimetres from his neck. He wanted to place his lips on them so bad and bury himself in Nick. His eyes felt so heavy as he closed them and hoped this moment would never end.

Inside Nick was wishing David wouldn't turn up just so he could hold on to Greg just a little longer. He could feel Greg's warm breath on his neck, the soft blond hair brushing up against his ear and cheek. He stopped rubbing Greg's back and moved one hand slowly upwards to the back of Greg's neck then to the crazy spiked blond hair running his fingers through it. He didn't even realise he was doing it but it seemed Greg didn't mind.

Greg noticed Nick's hand moving up his back slowly and then to his neck which caused shivers to run down his spine. As Nick's fingers moved into the back of his hair he purred a little in delight, his eyes still closed and a smile on his face. He felt so sleepy and wanted to fall asleep in Nick's arms even though they were still standing.

They stayed like this for at least half an hour watching the red sky turn into an inky blue and their surroundings turn into a pool of silver.

"You okay G?" Nick asked in a soft voice presuming Greg was falling asleep.

"Mmm...yeah...just a bit tired." Greg replied into Nick's neck. "You...er...smell nice...what is it?" he continued dreamily.

"Thanks...it's...er...just me Greggo...I haven't got anything on."

Still smiling Greg inhaled deeply which tickled Nick's neck. "I like it." Greg stated as he pulled his head off Nick's shoulder backing off a little and placing his arms around Nick's neck. They just stared into each others dark brown eyes. Both as wide as ever trying to read what the other was thinking. Searching for a sign of what to do next. Greg wanted to touch those slim lips with his own, to taste Nick but instead he chose to admire the handsome face of the masculine Texan against the starry sky.

Both of their faces were bathed in the silver light from the moon in the navy sky. Not saying a word to each other Nick took one hand and placed it on Greg's warm cheek slowly running his thumb up and down his jaw line. Greg replied by closing his eyes, inhaling deeply and tilting his head ever so slightly. Nick loved the way Greg looked right now. The younger mans face glowed in the moonlight making him look almost perfect. No. He was perfect. Almost ethereal and angelic. He loved the way Greg pressed his face into his hand as he ran hid thumb down the silky skin of Greg's jaw. Greg opened his eyes and stared into those deep brown eyes which were staring right back. He took a hand and ran it through Nick's thick black hair. Nick gave the slightest of smiles, slowly licked his lips then grasped Greg's chin and leant forward.

Greg closed his eyes felt a pair of soft, warm, moist lips against his own and rest there for a couple of seconds, pull away and then felt them on again. He couldn't believe this was happening. Nick massaged Greg's lips with his own which in return opened slightly granting entry to his tongue. He deepened the kiss exploring Greg's mouth, savouring the sweet taste. How he longed for this moment. Greg's soft tongue wriggled into his mouth and danced with his own. Both of his hands were on either side of Greg's face, making sure he would pull away. He felt Greg's hands run through his hair and down the back of his neck.

Greg was in paradise. Exploring Nick's mouth with his tongue was incredible. He ran it along the inside of those straight white teeth and around Nick's tongue, both working in unison. He was moaning in pleasure and could tell this made Nick more aroused. He could feel Nick growing against his own bulge in his pants. Once Nick realised Greg was aroused he started to move his hand from Greg's face, down his chest then to Greg's jean waistband.

Suddenly they heard a clatter of rocks and a bright light pierced the night and blinded the two stopping their moment of passion. An eerie black silhouette stood before them...

Suddenly they heard a clatter of rocks and a bright light pierced the night and blinded the two stopping their moment of passion. An eerie black silhouette stood before them.

"Sorry guys...but as you know we got lost and it's dark and...oh." It was David holding a flashlight and his kit realising what he had interrupted.

"God Dam" Catherine cursed as she clambering over the edge examining her torn trouser with her own flashlight. "Hey boys." She said slyly with a smirk on her face looking and Nick and Greg who were still intertwined.

Once David had lowered his flashlight Nick and Greg snapped out of it and realised what happened between them, not knowing if David and Catherine witness the act of passion.

"Oh...er....I was cold." Greg stated his heart pounding.

"So I...offered my jacket." Nick stated looking at his zipper as he did it up.

"With you still inside I'm guessing" Catherine smiled looking at Nick whose face was looking down. "Here, knowing you, I thought you'd be needing this" she said as she threw a jacket to Greg once he had detached himself from Nick, giving him a small nervous smile which he didn't return.

Greg immediately put on the jacket and stuffed his hands in his pockets as he walked passed Nick to his kit.

They all stood watching the helicopter taking the body away once David went over the body and Nick processed what was underneath. They all climbed down listening to Catherine report on what was going on in her case and how David was stupid enough to get lost. Nick and Greg didn't say much on the way down and nothing to each other. They were both in deep thought about what had happened between them.

Greg kept blowing on his hands trying to get them warm seeing as the cold rock was sucking the heat out of him. He was relieved when they reached the bottom. He was trailing behind everyone staring at the floor trying not to trip on any rocks stuck in the ground. He could smell Nick's scent all over him and he loved it. He was sure Nick wasn't speaking to him now because they had company and would probably be holding his hand now on the way to the car, but no. Nick was striding forward in front of Catherine and David in silence they only sound coming from him was the rustle of evidence in the bags.

"Nick...Nick!" Catherine shouted. "You okay?"

"Huh? Oh...yeah...sorry what were you saying?" Nick finally realised they were already at their Tahoe's and Denali's. Greg was already sitting in the passenger side of Nick's SUV and David was in his Denali talking to someone on the cell phone.

"I was saying you two look pretty tired. I'll take what you got today and you two can go home. Get some rest." She patted him on the side of his shoulder. She picked up their evidence bags and loaded them into the back of the Denali. "Goodnight" she said as she got in.

Nick stood there and watched Catherine and David leave. This was going to be awkward was all he could think about. He wanted that kiss to last forever and knew he wanted more but for some reason he knew it wasn't possible, practical...ethical? He was a sensible guy and getting involved with Greg would be too much trouble even though he wanted it.

"Two hours in a confined space with a guy I just made out with...why Stokes why did you get yourself into this?" He muttered as he walked to the Tahoe. He knew this was going to be hard.

Greg just sat in the Tahoe still going over what had happened earlier. He wasn't ashamed of it. He loved it. He didn't care if David or Catherine saw or knew what happened. He wanted to tell Nick how long he had been attracted to him, how much he wanted to have that kiss.

Nick took a deep breath and opened the door and sat behind the wheel. "So...er...Catherine said we can go straight home when we get back." Greg didn't say anything but stared at Nick.

"Look Greg" Nick said turning to his right.

"Nick" Greg said at the same time.

They both laughed nervously and they knew it was forced. Nick started "Look Greg, about what happened earlier...I'm not denying that I didn't like it but...it was just a...just a heat of the moment kind of thing. I don't want to complicate things and work relationships never work...you know that..." No matter how softly he said it, trying to be the gentleman he was raised up to be he could tell those words hurt Greg. Those brown eyes that were full of lust earlier were now dark and sunken. "I didn't mean anything by it. Can we just...you know...forget it happened?"

Greg felt like his heart fall into his stomach. He didn't know what to say. Nick didn't mean anything by that kiss. He wanted to believe that it wasn't true but he couldn't say no to Nick's wishes.

"Yeah...I guess so." Greg forced a smile then rolled over to his side to look out of the window resting his head against the cold solid surface. There was only a black abyss to look at. He could see Nick's reflection looking at him but he dared not make nay eye contact for he would feel even more pain. He looked at himself and saw not a man that just shared a passionate kiss with the person he most desired and could ever have wished for, but a man who had just had his heart broken because it was love he had for Nick. Yes. Love. But Nick didn't feel the same way.

Nick regretted what he said but felt it was the best thing to do not just for him but for Greg too as well as for their working relationship. As he turned to start the car Greg let a tear full of anguish roll down his cheek...
