A/N: This little plot bunny grabbed me and wouldn't let go till I wrote it. Please read and review. I love reviews! It's almost embarassing how happy they make me.

David smiled at the giggles coming from the living room. It was his favorite sound, his little girl's laughter. He stood in the doorway watching until she noticed him.

"Daddy, help me." She squealed as she ran to him.

He swooped her up and sternly looked at the man that was chasing her. "Nick, you were supposed to be getting her ready for bed not winding her up."

She giggled. "I'm not a toy, Daddy. You can't wind me up."

David rolled his eyes. "Did you brush your teeth?"

"Uh huh." She smiled widely to prove it. "Can I have story now?"

"Alright." He put her down. "Go pick out a book."

The little girl shook her head. "I wanna hear our story."

David groaned. "Again?"

"Uh huh." She ran into her bedroom to get her blankie.

David and Nick sat down on the sofa

"I think it's a beautiful story." Nick whispered.

"Have you considered what's going to happen the first time she tells it to one of her little friends?"

"You worry too much."

"I brought Greggy too." she informed them as she ran back into the room.

Greggy was the large pink bunny Greg Sanders had given her for her third birthday. It was almost as big as she was but she carried it around with her ninety percent of the time. She'd had it for over a year now but it looked as if she'd had it for five.

"Who's gonna start?" she asked, trying to decide where to sit.

"I will." Nick smiled as he watched her crawl into David's lap. She always sat on the lap of the one not telling the story. His heart melted as he looked into her blue eyes, so full of trust and innocence and then into another pair of blue eyes, filled with love and contentment. Nick wished he could freeze this moment forever.

"Daddy, are you going to start?" she nudged him then leaned back against David.

"Yeah, sweetie." He leaned down and kissed her check.

"What about me?" David pouted.

Nick chuckled and kissed him too.

"Daddies!" she whined.

"Alright Erin." He ruffled her hair. "I'll start."

She grinned and plopped her feet in Nick's lap.

"Once upon a time there was a handsome prince, Prince David."

"That's you, Daddy." Erin giggled when David faked a shocked expression.

"Prince David was lonely and sad. Although he wanted to have someone to love, he had given up hope until one day he met a handsome knight who was also lonely."

"That's you, right?" she asked though she knew the answer.

Nick nodded. "The prince and the knight started spending time together. They were in love and happy but not everyone liked them being together. Some people thought the mighty prince shouldn't be with the lowly knight and tried hard to break them apart. But they couldn't because the love between them was too strong. So the prince asked the knight to move into his castle and neither man was lonely anymore."

Erin smiled and moved onto Nick's lap, knowing that David was going to pick up the story.

David quirked an eyebrow as she put her feet in his lap. "Do I look like a foot stool?"

"Daddy!" she giggled.

"You talking to me?" David asked.

"Yes." She giggled again. They had tried to get her to call one of them Papa or Dad but she insisted on calling them both Daddy. They had finally given up even though it was confusing at times.

"Okay, where were we?" David pretended to think. "Oh yes. Prince David and the knight were very happy together. The deep love and respect they shared was unlike anything either of them had known before. Like a lot of people, they started talking about having a child but they thought it was impossible."

"Cause boys can't have babies." Erin whispered, as if it was their secret.

"That's right. Oh, they looked into all the options but decided in the end to leave it alone and just enjoy being with each other. But fate had other plans. One day a beautiful lady came knocking on the castle door."

"Mommy." she said.

David nodded. "It was the knight's sister, Lady Kelly. She had sad news. She was going to go away but before she did there was one thing she wanted to experience. She wanted to know what it was like to have a child, to feel that little baby growing inside of her. She asked Prince David to be the father and for him and the knight to raise the baby. You see, she knew that they wanted to have a child too. It wasn't an easy decision though. They were afraid Lady Kelly wasn't strong enough to have a baby and they didn't want her to go too soon. But after talking to doctors and family members the prince agreed to it."

Erin kissed Nick's cheek before climbing back into David's lap.

Nick patted her hand and continued the story. "Lady Kelly moved into the castle with Prince David and the knight. Together they decorated the baby's room, picked out a name, went to doctors appointments and did all those things that people do to prepare for a new baby. Lady Kelly even made the prince take a parenting class since he hadn't been around children much. Finally the baby came."

"That's ME!" she squealed happily.

Nick grinned at his daughter. "She had dark hair like her mommy and the prettiest blue eyes, just like the prince. Prince David pronounced her the most beautiful baby he'd ever seen and the knight agreed."

"And Lady Kelly?"

"Oh, Lady Kelly was the happiest of all. She held her daughter and told her how much she loved her. How she hated to leave her but that she would be taken care of and loved by her two fathers."

Erin jumped up and hugged Nick, who was fighting back the tears that thinking about his sister always brought.

"Do you want me to finish?" David asked, putting an arm around the other man.

Nick nodded.

"All too soon, Lady Kelly left to go live with the angels but she promised the baby she'd watch over her from above."

"The knight was sad, wasn't he?"

"The knight loved his sister very much and it did make him sad when she went away. It made both men sad but it was made easier by having that beautiful blue eyed princess to love and care for. They vowed to keep Lady Kelly's memory alive by telling the princess all about her. Things like how beautiful and smart she was. The most important thing, and pay attention here, was how much she loved her little girl. If she could have she would have stayed with her. And you know what? Lady Kelly lives on inside the hearts of the people that loved her and in the face of Princess Erin."

"Erin?" Nick whispered.

"She's asleep."

"Strange, you have that affect on a lot of people."

"You're hilarious."

"I do try."

"Try harder."

"And people wonder what I see in you."

"What, they don't think you want me for my incredible body?"

"Well, it is kind of hard to tell under that lab coat. Maybe if they saw you naked."

"Oh thanks, now I'm going to have nightmares about being naked at work."

"Hey, one man's nightmare is another man's dream come true." Nick wagged his eyebrows.

Their faces turned red when they heard giggling.

"I thought you were sleeping." David said accusingly.

"Just had my eyes closed." Erin looked up at Nick. "Daddy, why would you want to see Daddy naked?"

"I, um, I..." Nick looked pleadingly at David.

"You started it." David laughed.

"I was just teasing Daddy."

"Oh." Erin mumbled, clearly confused.

David could tell her little mind was forming another question. He decided to take pity on Nick. "Okay princess, it is your bedtime."

"I'm not sleepy." She whined.

"Well, I am." Nick said as he carried her into her bedroom.

"Goodnight princess." David kissed her check and pulled the covers over her. "I love you."

"Love you too." she yawned.

"Night sweetie." Nick bent and kissed her too. "Love you."

"I love you too, Daddy."

They turned off the light and crossed the hall to their bedroom. Nick walked over to the dresser and picked up his sister's picture.

"She was an amazing woman." David slipped his arms around Nick. "I'm so grateful she gave us Erin."

"Me too." Nick placed the picture back on the dresser then turned in David's arms. "I love you."

David smiled as he pressed his forehead to Nick's. "I love you too."

Nick smiled back. "Maybe our story should have a sequel."

"About?"

"The princess could have a little brother or sister."

"You're kidding, right?"

"I think it's your sister's turn, don't you?"

The look of horror on David's face made Nick double over in laughter.

"That... that woman should not be allowed to procreate ever." David shuddered at the idea.

"Just a thought." Nick continued to laugh.

"Did I mention you are not funny?"
