Grissom strode through the lab and saw everyone was working. Everything ran normal, but nevertheless he didn´t feel satisfied. Someone was missing.

There was no Greg.

He missed Greg, who usually enlivened this silence and spread good mood. Who almost jumped at him, eager to show his test results. Who joked around and made him smile. Well, at least on the inside.

Grissom never understood, where Greg´s devotedness actually came from. He always treated him reserved and relevant. Hardly ever, he said a nice word to him. Even suppressed or completely ignored, Greg was delighted to make a presentation. Grissom remembered how often he took the results and disappeared as fast as he had showed up. But Greg remained delighted to see him.

Now he felt guilty about it. Greg was still in the hospital to recover from his injuries from the lab´s explosion. He surely didn´t deserve this. He was a good boy and he had always been a good chemist. Someone, who did very good work for the lab. Even when he had infected him with the mildew once, Greg had soon forgiven him. Afterwards, Grissom had realized how wrong his behavior has been and he was ashamed of himself. He never treated Greg disrespectful again.

He was missing Greg. He missed his cheerfulness and also his devotion.

How long was Greg already gone? Over a week it had to be now. No one knew how long he would stay in the hospital or in rehab. What would be, if he didn't come back at all? Maybe he didn´t wanna work in the lab anymore, after what had happened to him. Grissom didn´t like this idea.

Hodges sarcastic voice tore him out of his thoughts. "When will Sanders be back?"

"What?"

"I asked, when will Sanders be back? I have much work to do. I could use some help."

"How am I supposed to know? I´m not his doctor."

Hodges smirked. "I thought you know, because Sanders is certainly your number one lab tech."

"I really don´t know, what you´re talking about."

"Sanders is always welcomed by you to show test results, but not me. Or anyone else of us lab people."

Grissom glared at him. "We´re done here. Go back to work."

Hodges followed the order, but he sneered.

Grissom sighed. Hodges allusions made him nervous. He had to be careful. Very careful. Especially, when Greg will be around again. Concurrently, he hoped with all his heart to have Greg back soon. Of course, he would never entrust a thought like this to the other CSI´s. Neither to Greg. He could imagine what would going on here in the lab, if they knew how much he cared about the young chemist. He must be really out of his mind to even think about the possibility to get it on with Greg. A few seconds, he let himself drifting in pleasant daydreams, then he went to his colleagues to talk about the current case.
