Fandom: CSI: Vegas
Fandom Type: TV series
Pairing/Character/General: Warrick Brown/Nick Stokes
Prompt: # 065 Want

Summary: Nick takes off upset after a rough case.
Disclaimer: Not mine. I really wish Warrick was, but he’s not, darn it. And since I don’t own much anyway, don’t sue me. I really would be a waste of time for the both of us.
Feedback: yeah, I can take it. Just be nice about it.

Warrick hurried into the lab, worried and angry. He knew cases with children always affected Nick in the worst possible way, but the guy had completely lost it this time after they were finished. He had taken off in his car, not telling were he was going, leaving Warrick behind baffled, something that didn't happen very often.
There was nothing he could do except for bringing the evidence back to the lab and trying to find out where Nick was, since he refused to pick up his cell. Turning a corner little too sharp, he almost knocked over Catherine.

'Whoa Warrick, hold your horses! Some of us try to get out of here in one piece you know.'

Warrick wasn't in the mood for small talk. 'Seen Nick somewhere Cath?'

The worried look on his face told her enough. 'No, not tonight. Why? Rough case?'

Warrick rubbed his hand over his face. 'The worst. A 12-year old girl died because her father rented her out as a prostitute to his friends. The girl was molested in a way I hadn't seen so far, which counts for something. It upset everybody present, but Nick kinda lost it when we were finished. Tore the hell out of there without telling where he was going, which wouldn’t be so bad if he hadn’t taken half of the evidence with him.'

'Did you call him?'

'What do you think? I've left him at least 6 messages, but he shut his phone off. I saw his car in the parking lot though, so he has to be around here somewhere. I just wish I could find him, although I don’t know if I want to see if he needs some help or just want to hit him over the head and ask what the fuck he was thinking taking off like that.'

A loud beeping sound made them both jump. 'Damn, my pager,' Catherine said, looking at the device. 'Sara's got some results back from the lab. I'm sorry Rick, I gotta go. Let me know if I need to help you with anything, okay?'

Warrick nodded, and walked on. He had searched all the obvious places without finding him, and now he was strolling through hallways that were almost completely deserted around this time of night. After another left turn, he walked past the bathroom for the disabled, he heard a strange choking noise coming through the door. After a second of hesitation, he knocked.

'Nick? That you?'

The answer sounded muffled, but the irritation in Nick’s voice was as clear as day.

'Leave me alone Warrick, this has got nothing to do with you.'

'The hell it does. You take off from a crime scene like you are chased by the devil, you don't tell anyone where you're going and shut your phone off. I'm your best friend goddamnit, of course it has something to do with me. Now open the goddamn door before I knock it down.'

He heard Nick sigh.

'Just leave man, I'll be fine tomorrow.'

'I'm not leaving until you open that door.' If needed Warrick could be every bit as stubborn as Nick was.

After a minute, the door opened and he saw Nick standing there, eyes red, tear stains around his face and his body still shaking, but his arms crossed in front of his chest and his look pretty pissed off. Warrick stepped in the bathroom and locked the door behind him.

'See, I'm still alive. You can go now.'

'I can go now,' Warrick repeated. 'Jesus Stokes, you scared me to death leaving the scene like that and now you tell me to take off. That's..'

He was at a loss for words.

'Okay, now you know I don’t handle cases with kids very well. I’ll try my hardest not to bother you again with it.’

‘That’s not my point, of course you can bother me with it. I just wish you did instead of acting like this.’

‘Well, what were you gonna do? Kiss and make it better?' Nick said in a sarcastic voice.

As soon as he said it, something seemed to shift in the air. Warrick looked Nick deep into his eyes and almost growled.

‘Yes, I do’

And before either man realized what exactly was going on, Warrick had Nick pressed up against the tile wall by his shoulders, claiming his lips and invading his mouth with his tongue. Not something they had done before, although the thought had crossed Warrick's mind on more than one occasion. Those thoughts had nothing on the real thing though, the feeling of Nick in his arms, that strong gorgeous body against his' was more than he expected: it was everything he wanted. Too soon for his likings he pulled back, breathing heavy and at the same time trying to gauge Nick’s reaction. For all he knew, Nick could clock him one in the head within zero seconds flat.

However, Nick remained silent, leaning back against the tiles, breath more labored than a minute ago, lips slightly parted and an unreadable look in his eyes.

‘What did you do that for?’ he asked.

Always trying to keep his cool and not let his deepest emotions be seen rightaway, Warrick shrugged. ‘It seemed like the thing to do to snap you out of whatever mood you were in.’

Instead of answering, Nick pulled him close by his shirt and kissed him back, forcing Warrick’s lips open with his tongue and entering his warm mouth. Their kiss lasted longer than their first one and Warrick felt Nick’s arms come up around him this time, pulling them even closer together. His own arms seemed to have moved on their own accord, one on Nick's lower back, holding him close, and the other on the back of Nick's head, tangled in his hair. Warrick felt Nick’s hardening member making contact with his own through layers of clothing and he couldn’t hold back a moan. He knew he had to pull back before this got out of hand, and reluctantly he broke the contact, still holding Nick close to him.

‘Fuck Nicky, what’s happening here?’ he asked, sounding astonished.

‘I don’t know,’ Nick answered, confusion clear in his face, ‘I didn’t even know I wanted that.’

‘But now you do?’ Warrick asked.

‘Yeah. God yeah. You?’

‘Honestly?’ Warrick asked. And at Nick’s nod: ‘Yeah, I did. Have wanted it for some time, but I didn’t plan to practically jump you like this. It just kinda happened.’

He was relieved to see the slightest hint of a grin form on Nick’s face.

‘I’m glad it had something to do with me after all, ‘cause if you go about kissing everybody that’s pissed off around here, you won’t get a lot of work done.’

‘Great,’ Warrick joked, ‘now I’ve got pictures of kissing Ecklie in my head. Thanks man.’

And then, on a more serious note. ‘Look Nick, whenever something about a case bothers you, just talk about it. I know you want to save the whole world all by your lonesome, but you need friends too. I’m your friend man, I just need you to open up.’

Nick cast his eyes down. ‘And what if I need something more than a friend?’

Warrick cupped Nick’s chin and kissed him briefly. ‘I think I’ve made clear what I want Nick. I’ll follow your lead to see what you want.’

He was rewarded with a smile. ‘Right now I’d like to get out of here. I’m way too sober for a make-out session in a bathroom.’
