~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sara Sidle is sitting at her desk in the room she shares with Ken or Kendra
Williams, and tries to study for her Physics midterm but finds it difficult with
Kendra throwing clothes at her, "Damn it Ken will you please stop it."
"Sara you're no fun, I told you we have to start packing if we are going to make
the flight to Lake Havasu tomorrow...besides the damn test you're studying for
isn't until the Monday after we get back from spring break; We leave tomorrow
which is a Saturday and get back here next Friday which means you'll have the
whole weekend after we get back to study...hell you hardly have to study, you
get straight A's in all your classes anyway...so please help me besides this is
your final spring break and you have never been on one in the first place...and
besides you promised all of us you'd come this year."
Sara knew Ken was right, she and her sorority sisters of Delta Kappa Epsilon had
been together all four years at San Francisco State University and she did love
them all very much; Sara, Kendra (Ken) Williams, Danita (Dani) Morales, Francis
(Frankie) Hodges and Joanna (Jo) Thompson, had all been friends since their
freshman year at SFSU, and it didn't matter to any of them that they were all
lesbians besides DKE was suited to them.  They were the tomboys of the
university, Dani was on the woman's softball team, Frankie was on the woman's
basketball team, Jo was the school's top decathlete, hell Ken was on the
middleweight on the weightlifting team and no one screwed with her and her
Dykes.  Even though dyke was a derogatory name for lesbians the DKE girls took
it as a rallying cry for their sorority.
"You know Ken your right, it's not like this stuff is going to disappear when we
leave here let me help you with your suitcase...my God woman how much are you
taking?" Sara says laughing at the amount of clothes Ken has piled up for to put
in her suitcase.
"Well, I have an outfit for everyday, one for every night, my swimsuit, my
sunbathing bikini, an everyday pair of shoes, a nice pair for going out at
night...and of course a little black pantsuit and all the accessories just in
case I meet someone."
"What do you really think any of those lipsticks from Lambda Epsilon Zeta are
going to break a nail or get their pretty little toes dirty with sand at Lake
Havasu, is that what you are hoping for because most of those girls will
probably be in Puerto Vallarta looking for another babe with a big bank account.
"One never knows Sara...hey even you might meet a special someone there."
"Yea right."
*****************************************************************************
Meanwhile on the other end of Sorority Row; otherwise known as Rich Bitch Alley
by the rest of the student population stood the Lambda Epsilon Zeta house, one
of the biggest and richest houses on the campus and even though it was known it
was never spoken about in public that just like the DKE house all of the sisters
were lesbians and they too were getting ready for spring break to Mexico; all
accept for one Sofia Curtis.
"Oh come on Sofia, why not come down to Mexico with my family, I am sure you
will enjoy yourself ."
"I'm sorry Constance my mind is made up, I am not going to Mexico this year for
spring break...besides what the can be so different from the past three years
that I've gone?"
Blair Anderson, daughter to a business tycoon and leader of Lambda Epsilon Zeta
house or LEZ for short was Sofia best friend and roommate couldn't really come
up with an answer.  Sofia really loved all her friends from LEZ as if they were
her biological sisters and they had all been together since their freshman
years; along with Blair and Sofia, there was Grace Rosemont, daughter to an
ambassador...Juanita Torres, who's uncle owns the house where the LEZ women
usually spend their spring break, and Cecilia Washington, who's family owned a
California vineyard.
"So where is it that you are going this year for spring break may I ask?"
"I was thinking about going to Arizona...Lake Havasu I read is a great place for
spring break."
Blair turned up her nose at the mention of Lake Havasu, "Lake Havasu...isn't
that the place those awful DKE woman go every year?"
"Yea, I think it is...and who knows I may even get lucky with one of those
DKE's," Sofia says giving Blair a wink.
Blair shudders at the thought and leaves the room with the sound of Sofia's
laughter following her.
"Uh guys you might want to check this out," Sara says to her fellow DKE sisters
while looking at her computer screen.
"What's up Sara...why all the commotion?" Dani asks as she walks into Ken and
Sara's room.
"I was looking for a airline that we can take to Lake Havasu, but it says here
on Wikipedia that the only way to get there is driving...that is unless you want
to spend money for airline tickets to Phoenix and then there's the money for a
rental car from Phoenix to Lake Havasu City, or we could just take turns driving
there from what I saw on mapquest it is about 600 miles and would take about 9
hours, so that would mean 2 hours for each of us behind the wheel."
"Damn and I thought we could have more time at the Lake by flying." Ken says a
bit disappointed.
"See what you get for not checking everything..." Sara tells Ken, she then
begins to laugh as Ken sticks her tongue out at her, "Don't stick that tongue
out unless you intend on using it." Sara retorts as she wiggles her eyebrows.
"Who says I don't plan on using it on you." Ken says seductively and winks as
Sara.
"Woman please, we all know I am not your type, and you are not at all my
type..." Sara says trying to catch her breath from laughing, which gets the
other DKE members laughing.
Ken did know who was Sara's type; on a night when Sara had a bit too much to
drink, Sara admitted she had the hots for a member of LEZ house,
who just happened to be the professor's assistant in Sara's psychology class;
her name was Sofia Curtis.  Sara had such a bad self image because of the abuse
she took at the hands of her biological parents she felt unworthy of any type of
love.  She was getting better however because of all the support she had from
her sorority sisters, whom she told all about the abuse when they all met their
freshmen year.
"Take a look at this..." Frankie says pointing to the SFSU Facebook page.
A collective "What is it?", came from the rest of the group.
"Looks like a LEZ is asking if someone is going to Lake Havasu...what the plane
to Mexico was full?" Jo says sarcastically.
"Either that or they didn't have her favorite bottle of champagne on board."
Dani laughs.
Sara and Ken were sitting there quietly while their friends kept on joking about
the LEZ, "You know guys we could offer to drive her," Sara spoke up after a few
minutes.
"Oh come on Sara, those stuck up brats want nothing to do with us, what makes
you think she'll even take us up on the offer." Dani was the first to speak up.
"Hey you never know unless you ask, I'm going to walk over there and invite her
myself, and besides this might give us an opportunity to get to know the
LEZ...who knows they may not be all bad." Sara says defiantly
"Go ahead, but don't be surprised if she shoots you down and laughs in your
face," Frankie says as she and the others watch Sara leave.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The walk from DKE to LEZ took about fifteen minutes; it took her ten more
minutes to summon up the courage to knock on the door, "I'll get it." came from
the other side of the sorority houses' door.
The door opens and Sara Sidle is face to face with her crush, Sofia Curtis,
"What can I do for you?"
After another moment of silence as she waits for Sofia to come outside and close
the door, Sara finally speaks, "I'm Sara Sidle from DKE and my sisters and I are
going to Lake Havasu, Arizona for spring break, we just read on the school
Facebook page someone from this house wants a ride there as well?"
"Oh yes...that someone would be me." Sofia says smiling to a suddenly very shy
Sara.
"Okay well we are leaving around 7 a.m., just bring bag or bags with you...and
I...I mean we'll see you tomorrow at 7."
Sofia had recognized Sara from the psych class she assisted in, "Hey Sara..."
"Yeah?"
Sofia was thinking of saying something a bit flirty to Sara, but thought better
of it and instead said "I'll be there with bells on at 7...see you tomorrow."
Sofia went back into her house while Sara walked back to her house; a smile
plastered on both woman's faces.
At Seven in the morning sharp, Sofia was knocking on the door of the DKE house,
"I'll get it..." she heard from the other side of the door; as the door opens
she sees Sara in a tank top and a pair of cutoffs that go halfway up Sara's
thigh.
"Hey Sofia, glad you could make it." Sara says bringing Sofia out of her stupor.
"Oh hey Sara...and please only the others in the sorority and my mother calls me
Sofia, my friends call me Fia..." Sofia says receiving a warm smile from Sara as
a reward, "Oh and I brought some sandwiches that we can eat on the way."
"We don't need any charity...especially not from a LEZ." Frankie snapped at
Sofia.
"Jeez Frankie, the girl is only trying to be nice...give her a break." Ken says
defending Sofia and of course, Sara.
"Well Fia, let me introduce you to the rest of the dykes..." Sofia's eyes go
wide at Sara's declaration, which makes Sara laugh, "You see Fia, we call
ourselves that as a badge of honor, we know it's considered wrong but we turned
a negative into a joke that way there's less of a sting when others use the
word...so you've all ready met Ken and Frankie, short for Kendra and Francis
respectively....and those two over there are Dani, short for Danita, and Jo
short for Joanna and me Sara."
"What... you don't have a nickname Sara?"
"Well not really, being my name is so short."
"Come on Sara you do so have a nickname." Dani says sporting a evil smirk.
"Don't go there Dani."
"Aww come on Sara...tell her."
"Dani so help me..."
"Please tell me Sara, besides I told you my friends call me Fia."
Sara took a good look into Sofia's hazel eyes and relented, "My friends call me
Sassy...it comes from my name Sara Ann Sidle."
"Fits you perfectly..." Sofia notices the blush rising on Sara's face and
decides to save her from anymore embarrassment, "So are we leaving now or
what...I brought my suitcase."
"We rented a van for the week...it's a nine hour drive we better get
going...who's driving first?" Jo asks.
Sofia looks at Sara with a questioning look, "We all decided to take a two hour
shift driving...that way no one would get too tired."
"I'll take a shift." Sofia says without hesitation.
"Thanks Sofia, for the offer and the sandwiches....Sorry I was so hard on you
earlier...it's just that..."
"I know Frankie, we all come from different backgrounds...but that doesn't mean
we can't all be friends...and everyone please call  me Fia."
"Does anybody have the time?" Jo asks as she stretches from the nap she just
took after her 2 hours of driving was over.
"It's about 11:45 lazy bones you've been asleep for a couple of hours.", Dani
says from behind the steering wheel.
"Hey guys check this out." Frankie alerts the other DKE members to what she
sees; Sara and Sofia sound asleep, their heads resting against each other and
their hands so close it looks as if they are holding hands.
"Come on guys leave Sassy alone, with her childhood she deserves some
happiness." Ken reminds her sisters.
All of a sudden a noise comes from within the van, it wakes Sara and Sofia up
with a start, "What the hell was that?" Sofia asks still not quite awake from
her nap yet.
This gets the other DKEs laughing uncontrollably and Sara to blush, "That was
stomach, it always grumbles like that when I'm hungry."
"Well I for one think it's cute," Sofia whispers to Sara, which turns Sara's
face from the color of the flesh of a watermelon to the color of a strawberry.
"Is there anyplace around here to stop because not only am I getting hungry, my
bladder is sending me urgent messages that we need to stop or I'll do something
I haven't done since before kindergarten." Sofia asks for all to hear, which
gets another round of laughs from her new friends, much to her chagrin.
"Well we are near the Tehachapi Valley and  I know there are some parks in the
city so let me turn off here and we can find a place to get out, stretch our
legs, eat, and do the other things we need to do," Dani says as she checks out
the road signs ahead as she gets in the lane to leave the highway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fifteen minutes later, Dani parks the van by the picnic table are of Tehachapi's
Central Park which is right next to an elementary school; each woman gets out
and in a group they walk towards the nearest restroom.  Once everyone was
accounted for they retrieved the food they brought for lunch, well actually
Fia's picnic basket and the bag of apples and snacks the rest of them bought the
night before they left.

Jo found a nice table under a tree and wiped it down with some pre-moistened
wipes, Fia then put her basket down and started pulling the sandwiches out, "I
have ham, turkey, roast beef, corned beef, tuna, egg salad."

"Wow So...I mean Fia, you went all out....why so many different sandwiches?" Ken
asked the blond.

"Well, I wasn't sure what you would have liked so I made three sandwiches of
each."

The women had a great time at lunch, all but one of the tuna sandwiches, a
couple of apples and a large bag of corn chips was eaten so they packed the rest
away in case one of them got hungry again.  As they
got back into the car Sofia got into the driver seat and to no one's surprise
Sara got in the front passenger side.

After about a half hour of silence Sara spoke again, "I really want to thank you
for making me the egg salad sandwiches, but how did you know I eat them?"

"Sara you have psychology right after lunch and more times than I care to count
I see you eating an egg salad sandwich...so it's no big deal."

"It is to me..." Sara says and after looking into the back and making sure the
rest of the woman are asleep, she leans over and gives Sofia a kiss on the
cheek, she then immediately regrets it, "Oh God...I'm so sorry I shouldn't have
done that."

"Why not Sara, I didn't mind."

"You didn't....?"

"Not at all Sara, as a matter of fact..." Sara was a bit unnerved by Sofia
stopping the van, but her nerves flew away when Sofia softly kissed Sara on the
cheek.  Sofia then grabbed a hold of Sara's hand and placed their joined hands
on the console between them as she put the car back in gear and continued
driving.

Unseen by either woman in the front, Ken had woken up when the car stopped.  She
opened her eyes slightly looked at the two women and whispered, "Way to go
Sara...you go girl."
