Everyone looks forwards to reach stability.

In work. In life. In love.

And having a routine is a way of stability. It gives a rhythm, an order to your life. We all have one, we need so we won't go mad in chaos.

And Greg Sanders was no exception.

Every day he'd wake up to the so familiar smell of coffee, his coffee machine was set to prepare a fresh pot everyday at the same time so he'd drink his so precious blue hawaian as soon as he left the warmth of his bed. After a cup or two of coffee and chewing a buttered toast he'd take a quick shower and get ready for work.

He'd pick his clothes according to his current mood. That'd explain why his appearance had changed so much since he'd left the lab. There was no time to goof around anymore, there were so little reasons to laugh now as a CSI. Now he'd pick a plain shirt over his Marilyn Manson's t-shirts and would comb his hair so it'd look more serious and not so loud as it used to be.

After a quick look in the mirror, he'd grab his keys and jacket before taking off to the Crime Lab. Sometimes he'd hear his stereo while he drove through Las Vegas' streets.

Once he'd checked in he'd get started with the case Grissom would assign him, and take a coffee break when needed. Sometimes a tough case could mean pulling a double, but he never complained. He loved his job.

As soon as the case was closed and there was no more paperwork for him, he'd check out and head home.

Every Tuesday, after his shift, he'd go for groceries to a convenience store near the crime lab. And once a month, the first friday to be more accurate, he picked up his order of Blue Hawaiian in Caffein Addiction his favorite store in the whole world.

His days off were to be expended indoors. Watching a movie, catching up some sleep or playing some new playstation game.

Yeah. He definitely had a routine, but it wasn't this routine that gave him stability.

"Greg?"

His stability had little to do with his organized agenda and a lot to do with the person calling his name.

"Yeah?"

Because stability for Greg wasn't to get up to the smell of coffee at the same time everyday or having a steady job. Neither was doing his shopping the same day every week or to be able to afford his whim for good coffee.

"Are you ready? We're kinda late"

To Greg stability was waking up wrapped in strong loving arms which wouldn't let him leave bed to go for his precious coffee. It was making his coffee break coinside with Nick's. It was going home together and forget in each others arms the horrors they had to witness everyday. It was playing hundreds of video games like they were teenagers or watching a movie just to lay in the couch one besides the other.

"I'm done. Let's go, cowboy"

Because to Greg...

"Oh Man! Just don't call me that in front of Cath again. Too much for Brokeback Mountain jokes."

... stability had a name.

"Whatever you say, Nicky"

Stability was Nick Stokes.
