Title: Untitled
By: Caroline Crane
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG

He knows Nick does it to torture him. Sure, there was a time when Greg bought the clueless routine, but they know each other a lot better than they used to. So he knows what Nick's doing, knows he's trying to torture Greg and the sad thing is that it's working.

Greg holds out for as long as he can. He keeps his mouth shut while Nick rolls the apple between his hands, looks away when Nick takes his first, noisy bite. He doesn't even react when Nick closes his eyes while he chews, doing his best impression of a starving man who just found the last apple in the free world.

But he's only human, and when Nick opens his eyes and looks right at Greg while he catches a drip of juice on his finger Greg can't keep quiet anymore. "Would you stop that?"

"Stop what?" Nick asks, all innocence and confusion and if he wasn't so good in bed, Greg would seriously consider killing him and hiding the body where no one would ever find it. He's a professional, after all, he could probably get away with it.

"You know what," he answers, eyes narrowed dangerously and he can see just a hint of amusement in Nick's eyes.

"I'm just eating an apple, G." As soon as he says it Nick's teeth sink into the skin of the apple again, noisy and distracting and when he licks his lips Greg reconsiders the reasons he hasn't already killed Nick.

This whole workplace romance thing is a lot more complicated than he expected it to be, and if he'd known Nick was such a tease he might have rethought the whole thing. Because he doesn't have any problem sliding across the table and licking apple juice off the corner of Nick's mouth, but he knows how Nick feels about that kind of stuff while they're on the clock, and it's all the more reason Greg should just kill him and put them both out of their misery.

"I hate you."

"No you don't," Nick answers, then he grins – fucking grins – around his apple and takes another bite, and Greg never knew he could look so smug with his mouth full.

"Bastard. Just wait until I get you home."
