"So, how's Stokes doing?"

David Hodges grinned widely as he ogled the new presence in the break room... though the long lab coat was no longer there, he was wearing a hot pink t-shirt, contrasted with "Unleashed in the East Undressed in the West" in a sharp black font.

The 'old' Greg?

Greg grabbed the coffee pot, swirling it around in the halogen light as though he was sampling wine, then put it back, grabbing a bottle of water before taking a seat across from Hodges.

Greg tried to force a little smile, but it failed him.
"He's... not good. Still really shooken up. Alive though. And a lot of that is because of you, you know."
Now Greg raised the corners of his lips, just a little, and peered at Hodges as he took a long drink of water.

Hodges shook his head. For once in his life, he didn't want to take any credit.
"Nick's okay because of everyone working together."

Greg's eyes widened, a little shocked at the other man's words.
"I guess I really don't know you that well."

Hodges nodded in a pondering sort of silence.

"Thank you, anyways. I wore this loud shirt today, just for you."

Now Hodges smiled again.

"I noticed. I love it. The lab is so solemn this evening. It'll probably cheer everyone up. I think I miss that most about having old Greg around. You made everyone feel good, loud shirts or not..."

Greg felt his cheeks become warm and quickly took another large gulp of water. He didn't know how to respond. Luckily, Hodges kept talking.

"...and very few people have ever made me feel good. I guess no one really knows old Hodges."

There was a slight sadness in the man's eyes. He looked as Greg had many times, when he'd gotten off shift and come home to his empty apartment, only the TV waiting for him.

Greg gathered all that was left of his bright spirit, and his courage, and smiled.

"Well, then maybe after shift, you could give the old Greg the whole David Hodges Experience?"

A blushing Hodges just nodded and laughed.
