There's a look Mac gets in his eyes some nights when they're out drinking, a wild look that clues Danny in that they'll be going home together, or at the very least out to the alley or the car. Danny sees that look, that reckless, unfocused gleam in Mac's eyes as their gazes lock, and every single time he feels it all through his body. After that, he can't focus on a single damn thing except what it'll be like to have Mac in his arms again, and he's dizzy with the utter certainty of what's about to happen.

So Mac looks over at him in Sullivan's, and Danny looks back, and later, in the car, Mac presses a whiskey kiss to his mouth and then pushes the seat all the way back so he can sink to his knees in front of him.

The world draws itself close and Danny clutches at Mac's hair, body strung tight, and everything spirals into this one moment of time between them. Danny will never be able to calculate the velocity of this, not ever.
