Warrick Brown had a dilemma. He went to the doctor today and found out that he was pregnant. Today, just happened to be his one year wedding anniversary. He knew that he had to tell his husband Gil Grissom. He needed a plan, and quickly.

He sat down and began to think. What could he do that would soften the news? He snapped his fingers. He would make dinner.

Warrick got up and went to the kitchen. He opened the door to the fridge and saw that there was nothing to eat. He closed the door and checked the clock to make sure that he had enough time to get back and make dinner before Gil returned.

Warrick set down the food he just purchased and stared at it. He didn't know the first thing about cooking a dinner, let alone one to tell his husband that he was 4 months pregnant.

He chose simple things for dinner; rosemary and lemon chicken, pasta with oil and herbs, and steamed vegetables. He could easily make this....right? He put the chicken, oil, rosemary and lemon into a plastic zip-lock bag so it could marinate. While the chicken was marinating, Warrick moved to cut the carrots, green beans, and squash to put in some foil so they could steam in the oven once the chicken was in the oven. Once he took the chicken out of the bag and put it in a pan, he pulled out a pot and filled it with water so it could boil for the pasta. When he put the chicken and the vegetables in the oven, he was hit with a dizzy spell.

He went to the living room and laid down. He closed his eyes in hopes that the dizziness would stop. How could he let this happen? Gil never said that he didn't want children, but then again he never said that he wanted children either. What if Gil left him? Warrick didn't think he could live without the older man. Warrick soon felt himself getting sleepy and decided to take a nap. He would defiantly wake up in enough time to take the food out of the oven.

After what felt like only a few minutes Warrick felt himself waking up. He found himself waking up to the smell of smoke. He sat up and to see smoke coming out of the kitchen.

Warrick jumped up from the couch and ran to the kitchen.

"No!"

He grabbed the hot pad and ran over to the stove. He had burnt the main course. The rosemary and lemon chicken was burnt black.

Tears were running down his face.

"Damn it! Now what are we going to have for dinner? I hope this isn't an omen for what's to come tonight."

Angry with himself for burning the chicken Warrick turned off all the burners. He wasn't going to finish making dinner. There wasn't enough time to start something else.

When he heard the front door open, Warrick wiped his face and walked out of the kitchen to the living room.

"Hey baby."

Gil wrinkled his nose.

"What's burning?"

Little did he know that was the wrong thing to say. Warrick glared at Gil.

"What's burning? Nothing now, it WAS dinner. We were suppose to have a nice romantic dinner together and I can't even do that right.

He lowered himself to the couch. Gil sat down beside his husband and hugged him close.

"Oh baby, it's ok. We have romantic dinners when we're just having a sandwich." He turned Warrick's face towards his. "You're what makes it romantic." He placed a sweet kiss on Warrick's mouth.

Warrick smiled, slightly starry eyed.

"I love you." He remembered his real purpose for making the romantic dinner. "But I wanted this night to be really special."

Gil smiled and nodded.

"Okay, how about we go out to eat then? Go get dressed in something really fancy and we'll hit the town."

Warrick looked surprised. This was very un-Gil like. He nodded.

"Ok".

He got up and went upstairs to change.

Warrick and Gil were sitting in a restaurant trying to celebrate their one year anniversary. Warrick was picking at his food, trying to figure out how to tell Gil about the baby.

Gil noticed that Warrick wasn't eating. It wasn't like Warrick not to eat. Something had to be bothering his husband.

"Warrick, is something wrong?"

"Well...."

Warrick looked up at Gil. He could see the love and worry in Gil's eyes. That made it all the much harder to tell Gil.

"Warrick please tell me."

"I'm scared to tell you.

"Why?"

"You'll leave or be upset with me."

"Warrick I would never...."

"I'm pregnant. The doctor thinks about 4 months. I didn't notice because of how often I work out, and since you have been at work so much....you didn't notice either."

Gil looked at his husband shocked beyond belief.

"You're pregnant?"

Warrick nodded.

"Yeah I am. I'm so sorry Gil."

Gil got over his shock and scooted around in the semi circle booth. Suddenly he was very glad that this was a secluded part of the restaurant. He placed a kiss on Warrick's lips.

"There is no need to be sorry. I love you."

Warrick sniffed.

"I love you too, but our careers...."

Gil placed two fingers on Warrick's lips to halt his sentence.

"I don't care about our careers. All I care about is you," he smiled, "and our baby".

Warrick smiled.

"You mean that?"

Gil nodded.

"Of course I mean it. I love you more than anything," He threw enough money on the table to more than cover their bill, "Let's go home and celebrate our baby."

Later that night:

Gil didn't know how long he had been staring at Warrick after they went to bed. He wanted to make sure that what Warrick had told him was actually going to happen. He gently ran a hand over the slight bump that he was finally seeing at his husbands stomach. This was their child. Some part of each of them was going to live on. That thought made Gil smile and pull his husband closer to him. That caused Warrick to wake up.

"Gil...."

Gil pressed a kiss to Warrick's forehead.

"Go back to sleep baby."

Warrick nuzzled Gil's neck and was soon asleep again. Gil smiled at the feeling of Warrick next to him. After all their time together, Gil still had little butterflies in his stomach every time Warrick touched him. He knew that everything was going to be ok...for them and for their baby.

*The end*
