Title: Angry Beyond Words
Author: CatStokes
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Note: This actually stemmed from a thing when I went out. There was this guy who was obviously really angry and his friend (or boyfriend because there was definitely something between them) was calming him down and saying soothing things to him. I thought it was really sweet and tried not to stare at them, but I couldn't help it! :)
Summary: Nick’s angry beyond words.

***

Nick was angry, angry beyond words. He'd just been trying to enjoy a nice meal out with Greg when a guy, no older than he was, had walked up to their table...

"Do you know you're in the company of a fag?"

Nick had looked over the table at Greg, who'd dropped his gaze to the tablecloth. The guy, obviously not caring about how much hurt or discomfort he was causing, continued looking at Nick, waiting for an answer.

"Well?"

He had watched as Greg threw a few bills onto the table. Nick stood up, meaning to pound the man into the ground, but thought better of it, especially as Greg was watching his every move.

"What gives you the right?" Nick screamed, causing everyone in the room to turn and stare. The silence was deafening.

"Nick. Don't," was Greg's timid warning, barely making it heard across the table. Greg turned and stared back at everyone until they went back to their meals, only compromising by glancing now and again.

"Come on, let's go, honey," Nick said to Greg, taking his hand and leading him from the restaurant. Nick could feel the man's hateful gaze on his back all the way out of the room and glared at the stranger from over his shoulder when he got to the door.

And now; now Greg had Nick pinned to the wall of the alley next-door, trying to stop him from going back into the room. For someone smaller than him, Greg had a lot of strength on Nick.

Nick pushed against Greg's hands, but Greg pushed back, slamming Nick's shoulders into the wall.

"You're not going anywhere until you've calmed down," Greg told him through gritted teeth. Greg was mad, not at the man from the restaurant; he really didn't care about him. No, Greg was mad at Nick for letting it get to him.

"Greg, didn't you hear him?" He attempted to get out of Greg's hold, but couldn't move his gaze from Greg's piercing eyes. His eyes didn't show anger or embarrassment. They showed fear and wariness that Nick had never seen on Greg before.

He couldn't stop his hand from reaching up and caressing Greg's cheek. Greg leaned into the touch, letting up on his hold over Nick. Nick moved his hand down Greg's jaw and onto the juncture where Greg's neck and shoulder's met.

When Greg's eyes dropped, and his hands fell from Nick's shoulders, Nick pulled Greg to him and held him close, whispering soothing words into his ear and rubbing circles on his back.

"Not every person will be like that," Nick said later, as they sat in the break room, waiting to tell Grissom and everyone about their relationship.

Nick could tell that Greg was worried, and Greg didn't have to be because as soon as the news was out in the open, everyone was even happier.

THE END
