Greg didn't remember walking into the house; he didn't remember collapsing on the couch, the letter that had been tucked into the mailbox outside clutched in his hand. He didn't remember letting go of the letter, watching as it fluttered to the floor.

He should have known that Shane would get in touch with him sooner or later. It had always only been a matter of time before the beast came back to haunt him.

He didn't want his ex-boyfriend back in his life. He didn't want anything more to do with Shane; he wanted that dark, disturbing part of his life to be over and done with. He wanted to move ahead in his new life with Nick, to leave the past far, far behind him.

Unfortunately, Greg knew all too well that he couldn't always get what he wanted.

It really shouldn't have come as any big surprise to him that Shane had sent him a threatening letter, Greg told himself, taking a deep breath and reaching for the letter again. He didn't want to read it; he knew what it said, and he didn't need to see those words again.

He'd have to give this letter to Nick when his boyfriend came back from the grocery store. They would take the letter to Jim Brass, who would probably insist that there be surveillance put on the house, since it was obvious that Shane had been here at some point.

Greg doubted that his ex would have simply gotten someone else to leave that letter in the mailbox -- no, he would have relished the danger of putting it there himself, knowing that he could be seen, or even caught. That was how Shane was; he enjoyed dangerous situations.

Well, this was one danger that he wasn't going to get away from, Greg told himself firmly, laying the letter on the coffee table and sinking back against the soft cushions of the couch. He would get caught, and he would go directly to jail, without collecting two hundred dollars.

The CSI team would make sure of that, if it was the last thing they did.

Greg shuddered at that thought; he didn't want to be the cause of anyone on the team getting hurt, any more than he wanted to be hurt again himself. But they had to catch Shane and put him behind bars, before he could cause harm to anyone else.

Most of all, to him, Greg thought with a soft sigh. He was obviously the person that Shane was after; he didn't think that anyone else was in any danger from his ex.

If that letter was any indication, then Shane was planning on coming for him when he least expected it, Greg thought, picking up the letter when he heard Nick's truck pull into the driveway. He would talk this over with his boyfriend, and hope that together, they'd find a way out of this.
