‘Why did she have to ask me about that?’ Sara thinks to herself. "Everyone experiments in college, right?" What did Catherine know? I wasn’t experimenting. I knew what I wanted and I got it, but I lost her.

"Sara, wait!" Catherine yells at the younger CSI, who didn’t turn around at the sound of her voice. "Sara, wait! I don’t know what’s wrong but I didn’t mean to cause any problems with you. Tell me what’s wrong."

"I have to see Greg; he has my lab results," Sara says as she quickly walks away. Catherine was left to wonder what was wrong with Sara. There had to be something else to this. She wouldn’t be this upset if there wasn’t and Catherine was determined to find out.

Sara retreated to the comfort of the lab, leaving Catherine standing outside, wondering what had just happened. She takes the DNA test results from Greg, which show a match to the suspect, and gives them to Grissom.

"I guess this is the end of my day," Sara calls out to no one. She gets her things out of her locker and turns to leave. Before exiting she looks at the clock, glad to see that it is past the time she should be off. "Good Catherine’s probably left." She starts out the door, and rounds the corner when she runs into Catherine. "I... I thought you would have gone by now," Sara quizzically asks.

"Normally I would have but I want to know what is going on with you," Catherine states. "What happened in college? I know more happened then what you told me, or you wouldn’t be so upset."

Sara just stares at her for a moment then softly says, "I loved her, and she’s gone." Catherine can see the tears in her co-worker’s eyes. "She was... I wasn’t... he... damn him! I loved her and she loved me!" Catherine is unable to piece together Sara’s meaning behind her sentence.

"Wanna get a beer?" Catherine calmly asks.

"Drive," was Sara’s only response.

Catherine drives to her house, knowing that tonight they will both get too drunk to drive home. "I’ve got plenty of stuff here we can drink,"Catherine says knowing that tonight will be a night of truths shared and pain relived. They each get a beer, and sit on Catherine’s couch. Catherine looks into the younger CSI’s eyes and waits for the story to come pouring out. She knows it’s coming sooner or later, and for the sake of Sara, Catherine hopes it comes sooner.
