He wished Spencer was here beside him.

Greg looked impatiently at his watch, knowing that doing so wouldn't make the time go any faster, but unable to stop himself. He'd been doing it all day.

Spencer would be back this afternoon; he'd promised that he would take a flight from Washington as soon as he was done with whatever paperwork awaited him at the BAU offices. He had assured Greg that he would be there by late afternoon, and it was already four o'clock.

He knew that his boyfriend would be here. He didn't doubt that. But maybe Spencer had been swamped with paperwork, and had gotten a later start than he'd planned.

Greg sighed softly, leaning back and closing his eyes.

He just wanted Spencer to be here. He missed his boyfriend terribly when he was gone, and he wondered how much longer they would be able to do this.

A long-distance relationship was hard. They'd both known that there would be difficulties when they had decided to stay together and be a couple. But neither of them had known just how lonely the long, empty nights without each other would be. He was sure that Spencer felt the same.

They needed to have more time together.

Either that, or one of them would have to give up their job and move to where the other person lived. That was the decision that they'd have to reach, at some point. And it wouldn't be an easy one for either of them. They both had careers that they didn't want to give up.

Could one of them make that kind of sacrifice for the other? Greg wondered. And if it did come down to one of them doing so, which one would it be?

He didn't want to think about that right now. It was too much for him to focus on at the moment.

He just wanted to concentrate on Spencer coming home, on being with the man he loved again, even if it was only for a few days before the BAU's next case.

They had a future together. Greg was absolutely positive of that. He just didn't know where that future might be, and if either one of them would have to make some major changes in his life for them to stay together. He hoped that wouldn't be the case, but if it was, they'd deal with it.

As long as they were with each other, then nothing else mattered.

He jumped to his feet when he heard Spencer's key in the lock. His love was finally here, and he meant to enjoy every moment that they had together.

Any worries could be put aside in the joy of finally being with the man he loved.
