How could it be possible to burn this brightly and not go down in flames, become a pile of smoldering ashes and cease to exist as as a person? Jamie didn't know, but he was absolutely positive that he would burn himself out if this lasted much longer.

He closed his eyes, thrusting deeper inside the Doctor, feeling the Time Lord's body tighten around him. He had never thought that making love could be this intense, that he could feel this much of a connection to the person he was with.

He was not only making love to the Doctor -- he was becoming a part of the other man in ways that he would never have thought possible. They were melting together, their bodies becoming one in the heat of their passion, just as their hearts already were.

His hearts were burning, melting, fusing themselves with the hearts of the man in his arms. They were entwining around each other, in the same way that their physical bodies were joined, the same way that their spirits and their emotions wound themselves together.

Jamie was sure that he could feel himself being completely submerged in the Doctor, giving up his own identity, not caring who he himself was in his quest to become part of his lover. It didn't seem to matter that his hearts were burning, melting, transforming.

He gasped for breath, his body starting to tremble; he was close to the edge, and he knew that the man in his arms was nearly there as well. He wanted to leap from that precipice with the Doctor in his embrace, float to the ground with the man he loved clasped close to him.

Another thrust, another gasp, and he was flying through the clouds, his body spasming, his climax taking his breath away. All he could do was hold on to the Doctor, hearing the other man's soft cry and feeling his lover's body tighten in response.

He rolled over onto his side, carefully pulling the Doctor more closely into his arms, raising one hand to run his fingers through the Doctor's tawny hair. It seemed to get better for the both every time they made love; this had been no exception to that rule.

He could barely catch his breath, much less form any words to speak at the moment. All of his thoughts were whirling around in his brain, unable to be strung together to form a coherent sentence. He could only hope that the Doctor understood how he was feeling.

The Doctor lay back against the pillows, turning his head to smile at Jamie, a look that seemed to make his hearts burn even more fiercely. How could he still have such a burning desire for the man beside him after their lovemaking had just drained him so completely?

"That was extraordinary," the Doctor whispered, his words barely audible even in the silence of the room. "Every time we're together, you take me to another place, Jamie. A world that I've never been to before, or even though could exist. No one else has ever done that."

"My hearts are burning," Jamie murmured, taking the Doctor's hand and pressing it against his chest. "I could swear that they're becoming one with yours, Doctor. Maybe that sounds a little foolish, but I feel like we're even more a part of each other every time we make love."

"You've been a part of me since the moment you came into being," the Doctor reminded him with a laugh, pressing his palm against Jamie's chest. "But you're even more so now. And I have a pair of burning hearts, too, Jamie. They burn for you, and only for you."

Jamie had to swallow back the lump in his throat that seemed to form at the Doctor's words; he had always known that the Time Lord loved him, but knowing that his lover's hearts burned just as his did meant more to him than he could put into words.

"My hearts have never burned for anyone but you -- and they never will," he murmured as he tightened his arms around the Doctor's slim waist. "I never want to be anywhere else -- or with anyone else. These hearts will always be yours, Doctor. My hearts, and all my love."

When their lips met, the fire in his hearts seemed to spread over his entire body; Jamie closed his eyes, losing himself in the heated passion of their kiss, in the feel of the Doctor's body in his arms. And within just a few moments, it seemed that his hearts weren't the only part of him that burned.
