All he wanted to do was kiss Jordan.

Zeke couldn't stop looking at the other man's mouth as Jordan spoke; those lips looked so soft, so sweet, so kissable. He couldn't take his mind off kissing them.

He watched those lips as Jordan talked to him, answering questions, asking his own questions, and simply making a little conversation. He watched as Jordan lifted his wineglass to those lips and took a swallow; every movement made him want that elusive kiss all the more.

It would happen, he told himself. He would take Jordan home tonight, and he would leave this man at the door to his apartment with a goodnight kiss.

It was less than he wanted, but it would do for now.

What he really wanted was to take Jordan to bed, to feel that slender body under his, for the two of them to physically merge and lose themselves in each other.

But he'd have to wait for that, he told himself. He needed to be patient. He couldn't expect Jordan to simply fall into his arms on their first date; they had to get to know each other better before he would be able to take this man to bed. He didn't need to rush into things.

This wasn't a race. This was a slow and steady journey, one that they would take together, one step at a time. It would start with this date, and progress from here.

Zeke couldn't deny that he wanted that goodnight kiss they would share later to be something beautiful, magical. He wanted it to be as special for Jordan as it would be for him.

And it would be, he told himself firmly. He felt something for Jordan that he hadn't felt for anyone in a long time -- if ever. This man was going to be someone special in his life, someone who lasted longer than a few dates. Jordan was the man he wanted to spend his life with.

Did Jordan feel that same attraction? Zeke wondered. There was no way for him to know unless he asked -- and it felt as though it was still too soon for that question to arise.

He'd have to wait. He could do that. He could be patient.

He would invite Jordan to come and see his band play -- or better yet, see if they could get a gig at the bar that Jordan was currently working in.

That would set the stage, and they could spend more time with each other. It would be the next step in their little ritual courtship dance; he could already see himself onstage with the band, dedicating a love song to Jordan, smiling over at him as the other man worked at the bar.

By then, he hoped that they would be sharing much more than a single kiss. By that time, he hoped that they would be lovers, their relationship solid.

Later tonight, their first kiss would seal their future.
