Josef gasped, his arms tightening around Mick's shoulders as the other man bowed his head to brush a gentle kiss across his lover's forehead. His hips pressed forward, nuding against the resistance of Josef's body, waiting patiently to gain entrance.

It was always like this when they made love; Josef's body still remembered the pain he had suffered on his last night as a human, and his mind made his body act accordingly. But Mick was sure that he was slowly overcoming that resistance.

Raising a hand, he brushed his knuckles gently against Josef's cheek, his eyes taking in the other man's face as he did so. Josef's eyes were closed, his long dark lashes resting like fans against his pale cheeks, his lips slightly swollen from Mick's kisses.

He'd never seen his boyfriend look so beautiful -- or so utterly desirable -- as he did at this moment. Didn't he think that every time they made love? he asked himself, shifting his hips slightly, pressing the head of his cock a little harder against Josef's entrance.

The other man gasped again, but didn't open his eyes. Mick knew that within a few seconds, that tension would ease, Josef's body would relax, and he could slide inside the other man, but it always took a few moments for his lover's body to overcome his mind.

Even though he'd never know the men who had raped Josef so long ago, he hated them for instilling that fear of intimacy into someone so vulnerable. It was hard for him to fathom how anyone could be so evil, so uncaring of another person's well-being.

Mick pushed those thoughts firmly out of his mind; he didn't want that part of Josef's life to cast a dark cloud over their lovemaking in the present. It was in the past; they were the future, and he would teach his boyfriend that making love would never hurt him.

Josef drew in his breath sharply as Mick's cock nudged against his opening again, his muscles starting to relax. Mick rocked his hips forward slightly harder, sighing in relief as he slid past the tight ring of muscle, Josef's resistance easing for a moment.

He could feel his boyfriend's long, slender legs wrapping around his waist, Josef's nails digging into the flesh of his shoulders. He ignored the momentary pain; Josef would relax further in a few seconds, any of his body's resistance that was left melting into desire.

"Shhh, babe .... Just relax," he murmured, his arms tightening around Josef's waist, pulling the other man against him. His lips caressed Josef's cheek as his hips pressed forward again, breathing another sigh of relief when he was all the way in.

"I'm not hurting you, am I?" he asked, his tone anxious. He was sensitive to every nuance of emotion on Josef's face; he couldn't read pain there, but he knew that there had been a few times when he'd hurt his lover unintentionally, and he was determined not to do so again.

Josef shook his head, lifting his face to Mick's. The other man could swear that he saw the shadow of a remembered pain in his boyfriend's eyes, but it was quickly being replaced by pleasure; Josef's soft moan told him all he needed to know.

He wanted to make this last as long as he possibly could; being inside Josef like this was the most perfect pleasure he'd ever known in his life, and he wanted it to stretch out into eternity -- or at least for as long as his body could hold out against his impending orgasm.

He'd never have believed that it was possible for a creature such as he was to experience this much pleasure, Mick thought to himself, gasping out Josef's name as he rocked his hips against the other man's body. Who would have known that vampires could mate?

And who would have thought that Josef and he were such a perfect fit? The other man's body fit around him like hand in glove; it was as though Josef had been made for him, which was absurd, considering that he'd been born centuries before Mick had come into existence.

Josef choked out his name, his voice breathless; Mick drew back slightly so that he could look into his lover's face. If Josef was in pain in any way, he would stop what he was doing -- but he didn't think that had been a gasp of pain.

"Are you okay?" he whispered, hoping that Josef would nod in the affirmative, give him a reason to thrust his hips forward again and feel another burst of pleasure rocketing through his body. He wanted to make Josef feel that pleasure too; he couldn't hold himself back much longer.

"Take me, Mick," Josef almost growled into his ear. "I need to feel you. I like the gentle stuff, but I need you now. No more of this foreplay. Get down to business." His nails scored down Mick's back, his legs tightening around Mick's waist as he spoke.

Mick could do nothing but comply with that request; it was more of a command, but at this point, he didn't care. All he wanted was to meld his body and soul with Josef's, to become one with the man he loved and would love for all of eternity.

He cried out wordlessly as he thrust into Josef; the other man's soft cry joined his own, their voices mingling together in the darkness of Josef's bedroom. The sound hung in the still air, dissipating slowly, still ringing in their ears long after they had been reduced to breathless silence.

How could it be that anyone could be such a perfect fit with him, especially someone who had been born centuries before he existed? It always amazed Mick how Josef's body seemed to be a velvet vise, holding his mind and his body in thrall.

Another thrust, another moan -- and suddenly, the world was spinning, exquisite sensations lifting them to the sky, and then letting them fall back to Earth in a dizzying drop, to hover just above the ground, panting and breathless, their bodies still twined around each other.

Mick eased himself onto his side, still buried inside Josef, not wanting to pull out of the other man yet. He could feel his lover's muscles tightening around him, those long legs wrapping around his waist more tightly, refusing to let him go.

"Don't," Josef whispered, his voice barely audible, though to Mick's preternatural hearing, the words were as clear as bell. "I want you to stay in me. I want to keep feeling this close to you. Like you're a part of me and we don't ever have to part."

Why should those words coming from his boyfriend's lips bring a lump to his throat? If he was capable of crying, he probably would be doing just that. It was only more proof that Josef fit him hand in glove, not only physically but in other ways as well.

"We don't ever have to be parted," Mick whispered back, brushing Josef's hair back from his face and trailing gentle fingertips down the other man's cheek. "I'll have to pull out eventually -- but I'll never pull out of your life. I'll always be with you, Josef. I promise."

He knew that other people had made that promise before -- but he was the one who was going to not only keep that promise, but make it over and over again, every day of their lives, until Josef believed the words and held them close to his heart.

Josef nodded, his gaze locked on Mick's for long moments; Mick had the feeling that his lover was trying to convey something that he couldn't quite put into words, and he wished that he could read minds so he would know what it was without needing Josef to speak aloud.

He wrapped his arms around that slender body, pulling his lover close against him, luxuriating in the feel of having Josef in his arms and being inside him. It almost felt as though they were fused together, not only their bodies but their very souls uniting as one.

Josef's arms slid around his waist, pulling him close, until Mick felt that their heartbeats were one. He wanted to lose himself in the other man again, to make love to him over and over again, until they were both completely sated in every way.

Amazingly, he could feel himself growing hard again inside Josef; that had never happened to him before with anyone. He hadn't thought that it was possible -- but then, there were a lot of things that he hadn't tried since he'd become a vampire.

Josef apparently felt it too; the other man's eyes opened, gazing into his own with an almost predatory stare. A slow smile spread over his face, telling Mick that there needed to be no words between them -- they could let their bodies do the talking.

He rolled Josef over onto his back again, rocking his hips gently against the other man, feeling the slim body under his clench around him again. He fit into Josef comfortably, more like hand in glove than ever now that his boyfriend was used to the union of their bodies.

As he pushed deep inside Josef again, Mick ceased to think -- all he could do was feel. The only coherent thought in his mind was that he wanted to stay like this forever, buried inside the man he loved, the union of their bodies and souls as complete as it could possibly be.
