"Right, Sir."
The dark haired man stood, blood dripping down his strong hands and off his fingertips, falling to the floor and shattering like little red rubies next to the dead, half metal body of a woman... His woman,
"I'll clean up then."

Toshiko Sato stepped towards him, but Ianto Jones just walked right past her and vanished around the corner.
"Jack? What is he doing?" Tosh asked turning back to look to where her leader was still stood glaring forwards.

Jack ground his teeth, his gun still raised and pointing to where the pizza girl with Lisa's brain had been stood.
"His job."
Gwen's eyes were fixed on the floor, not wanting to look up and see the two dead women, unwilling to look at her team, and desperate to avoid Ianto's cold tear-filled eyes.
"What does that mean?" Her eyes didn't move from the grey stone floor and her voice was filled with sadness and regret.
"He cleans up after us, gets us every where on time." Suddenly Jack's voice was filled with anger and he shouted. "Take a guess at what he has to do, Gwen! ... And this time its not just look good in his suit!"

Now Gwen's eyes darted up to stare at Jack, her face filled with fear and shock.
"Jack no!" Owen looked to his leader. "You can't make him do that!"
"Oh yeah? ... Well who else wants the job? Tosh?" She shook her head frantically, "Gwen... no? Well, how about you Owen? You're the hard man aren't you? Would you like to be the one to pick bits of dead robot girl off the floor?"

No one spoke and Ianto reappeared, carrying two body bags and a mop. To every one's amazement his eyes where dry now and it looked like he had washed his face. His normal, indifferent look across his expressionless face, as he slowly bent down and unzipped one of the bags laying it out on the floor ready for it lifeless inhabitant.

Gwen ran from the room her hands over her eyes, Toshiko quickly followed her as the sound of loud sobs reached her ears, "I... I'm going to look after Gwen." She announced running off tears running down her own cheeks.

"You can go too if you want Owen." Jack said lowering his gun for the first time in ten minuets, but still not taking his eyes from the spot where the girl had been.
"Ianto do you need help?" Owen asked stepping forwards to help put the body of the cyber women in that black body back.
"Get away from her!" Ianto hissed over his shoulder gently heaving the girl into the bottom of the black plastic body bag and tucking the folds in around her like a blanket.
Owen backed away and turned to leave the room, his head down as he jogged off to find the still crying girls.

"Ianto?" Jack got no response, he shifted his eyes to the man, knelt a few feet in front of him, tending to his lost love.
"Ianto." Still Ianto gave no response and if Jack hadn't known better he would of thought the Welsh man was deaf.
"I did what had to be done... We all did."

Ianto snorted, trying to suppress hysterical laughter, "You always know what's best don't you, Sir?"
Jack nodded, "In this case, yes. I do."
Ianto's hand slowly took hold of the black zip that would close the bag that now contained his dead love. "The almighty Jack... A God among mortals!" He tugged violently at the zip and Lisa's pale face was hidden by cold black plastic.

"But you're not a God, Jack." Ianto stood and walked to the next body, the blonde-headed pizza girl Lisa had swapped brains with so that she could upgrade properly and become one whole cyber man.
Setting out the last body bag, Ianto spoke again. "You're a fucking monster, Sir!"

"NO!" Jack boomed, his voice echoing around the room and coming back to him, "That!"
He thrust a finger towards the closed black bag that contained the half-human, half robot woman,
"That, is a monster! What you hid from us in the basement... that was a monster! Not your girlfriend, not the woman you claim to have loved, but a horrible murdering monster! That needed to be stopped!"

"Don't!" Ianto softly said with out turning to look at Jack, "Ever call her that ever again... she is... she was not a monster."
"Do you really believe that?"
Ianto finished zipping up the last full bag and slowly turned, pulling himself up to his full height, striding towards Jack, "I believe in what I feel... and I feel her, in my heart. I know she loved me... because I feel it."
"Then you're far stupider then I thought!" Jack spat back at him, "You feel things and believe them, it makes you blind... So you can't see what's right in front of you."

"What do you fucking feel Jack? What do you feel and about what? ... You feel love? Yeah you love?..." Ianto filled in his own gaps, "You love Gwen and hate? ... Aliens... You fear? Living... You want? ... Sex. You feel lust towards? Gwen, And you feel pain?" He pulled his fist back and plunged it, full pelt in to the right side of Jack's already bruised lip. "Because of me."

Jack's face flew side ways and his neck cracked at the power of Ianto's punch.
Jack fell and landed right next to the bag that contained Lisa's body, holding the side of his jaw.

"You're wrong about a lot of those things Ianto... I love the team, Gwen, Tosh, You, even Owen!" He paused, "I hate... myself... I fear, losing the things I love... I want..." He sighed and closed his eyes, opening them again, he said in a soft calm voice, "You... And lust... that's filled by you again... Pain? I feel every day when I see you hurting... every day when I know I have to do things like this!"
He pointed at the two black bags, "To protect the world! And I hate it!"

Jack let his hand fall to his side, "You couldn't possibly hate me as much as I hate myself." Tears welled up in Jack eyes but he remained staring up at Ianto.

Ianto took a deep breath, clenching his teeth and glaring, "Self pity doesn't suit you Jack! Get the fuck up."
"Why?"
"Because there's something I need to do."
Jack slowly got to his feet, feeling a little light-headed after Ianto's little boxing trick.
"What do you need to do?"
The other man grabbed Jack by the lapels and dragged him towards himself. Pressing his lips against Jack's, Ianto kissed him.

"Why did you kiss me earlier?" He asked pushing Jack away again.
"Because it would keep you alive."
"I wish... fuck... I wish you'd let me die..."
"Don't you think I know that? Ianto I know it hurt's, but..."

Once again, Ianto's fist found its way into Jack's flesh, catching him in the stomach this time. The American fell to his knees, leaning against Ianto's legs for support as he coughed, gasping for air.
"Don't you dare tell me everything's going to be ok!" This time it was Ianto's turn to shout, "It wont! ..." His voice broke, and got quieter and quieter, "She's gone!"

***

Ianto's blue eyes were now full of tears and his face contorted into a look of complete despair.
"She's gone..." He looked down at Jack, confusion in his eyes as the tears streamed down his face.
"She's gone, Jack... I can't... I'm never going to see her again...."
His bottom lip trembled and the veins popped up on each of his temples, his eyebrows twisting into a frown. "What am I going to...?"

Jack had regained his composure and, although still a little out of breath, he was ok. He knelt down, listening to Ianto and watching as reality took hold of his employee.
"Ianto..." Jack stood quickly trying to catch Ianto before he collapsed in floods of grief stricken tears.

"Jack... She's..."
"I know." Jack muttered softly into the man's ear as he lowered Ianto to the floor and sat cross-legged with Ianto's head on his shoulder, rocking the crying Welsh man,
"I know..."
Ianto's loud sobs filled the Hub and soon the other three members of Torchwood staff stood in the doorway, pity written on all their faces, as they watched Ianto sobbing uncontrollably in to Jack's military issue coat.

Hearing Ianto's muffled words, made each of them feel as if someone had just plunged a fist into their hearts.
"She's gone... she's gone... she's gone.... Jack? ... She's really gone...."
Then there was nothing but the sound of Ianto's irregular breathing and Jack's soothing, "shhhhh.... shhhhh" as he rocked Ianto in his arms.
