Welsh, as far as Jack was concerned, was a bloody confusing language. Every other letter was D or W or Y. It sounded confusing and irritating.

He did often wonder why the hell he had decided on Cardiff. When faced with the decision between London or Cardiff, he chose Wales. Kinda funny for someone who hated Welsh.

Still, the people weren't that bad. Especially not the one lying next to him.

Jack smiled at Ianto. He liked watching him sleep. It was the one time when all of the mans' masks came off and he was just Ianto. He looked so peaceful lying there.

"Ianto? You awake?" Jack asked him, shaking the man.
"Am now. Thanks alot" came a muffled voice.
"You're welcome." Jack said in a singsong voice.
Ianto smiled, sat up, and murmured something in Welsh. Then he went back to sleep.

Jack tried to get some sleep as well, but he couldn't get the words out of his mind. Trust Ianto to speak in bloody Welsh.

Still, the words refused to leave him alone. Did they mean "I'm going back to sleep"? Or did they mean "Get the hell out of my house you bastard?"

After several minutes of tossing and turning, he sighed and got out of bed. He found Ianto's unnaturally organised bookcase and pulled out a Welsh/English dictionary.

He searched through the dictionary and, after twenty minutes and a migraine, he finally had what it meant.

"Fi cariad chi" meant I love you. Maybe Welsh wasn't that bad after all.
