Title: Soul Mate II

Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Series: Soul Mate
A/N: Hmm sorry about the poetry. It is not something that I'm proud of and now this little fic has been staring at me for hours, without further development. Take it or leave it. Remember that English is not second nature but my second language.
Summary: Nick remembers an old gift.

The uniformed police officer walked into the Desert Palm's chapel and found himself a vacant seat. The chapel held a few other visitors all occupied by their own sorrows.

He was staring at a small box in his right hand.

"I know I already gave you one for you christening. So it's not because your Granny is going senile on you. This one is for that special someone that you will share your life with. You'll forget about this and then some day when the time is right you'll know. And you'll go home and get this that your Granny gave you for your confirmation."

He knew that he should've done it earlier but his someone special was very special.
Maybe he had left it for too long.

'Dear God. I've done something or well it's actually something that I haven't done that is troubling me. I never told him that I love him. Please give me the chance to tell him.'

"I'm sorry officer but he is resting now. You better come back another time."

"Will he be okay?"

"Yes, his burns are bad but not critical."

"Can I just leave something for him?"

"10 seconds and you're out of there again."

"Yes ma'am and thank you."

He laid the small box next to the water glass and left before he got into trouble.

"When you're ready you could dress up and let me know that way." Greg had said when he had broken free from yet another hot kiss. Sometime after Kristi's death Greg had taken it upon himself to lighten his mood. So whenever he had a tough time Greg would come over after work dressed up.

If Greg wanted to say sorry he came as a school girl.

If Greg wanted to make his sorrows go away he came as a nurse.

If Greg wanted to make him feel wanted he came as a hot babe.

It didn't take Greg many visits before he had stolen his heart. But he hadn't admitted it for a long time, it scared him too much. Then the first time Greg came as a hot babe he overstepped his own imaginary boundary and kissed the gorgeous Greg. For the past year they had been at this emotional tug of war.

I prayed for you
I hoped for you
I longed for you
I begged for you
I was offered you
I denied you
I feared you
I love you despite all

He turned the photo over again and looked at the young cop. He thought that Nick didn't want to see him like that, and that was why he hadn't been here yet. Then he had noticed the box and the envelope tucked underneath. It would be a while before he could wear the golden cross. But he had already waited a long time for Nick, so a few more months didn't matter.
