Casey sighed as she realized that, once again, Olivia was going to be late. She had thought that maybe, just maybe, since it was their anniversary that maybe Olivia would've made more of an effort this year. Every year on their anniversary, like clockwork, Liv would get a call and have to go out to work. Casey hated it and Olivia would work her ass off that next week trying to apologize for her job. She had hoped that maybe this year would be different, the two of them spending some time away from their twins.
Olivia tried to carefully climb into bed that evening when she finally came home. Not carefully enough though, because Casey spoke, "Hey."
Liv cursed under her breath, "Sorry I woke you up; I tried to be quiet."
Casey smiled, "It's alright, I don't sleep much without you anyway. Did you solve the case?"
"His father did it; he beat him within an inch of his life. He raped him too." Olivia's sad eyes nearly broke Casey's heart.
"I'm sorry baby, I wish I could do something for you."
"Just being here and forgiving me for missing our anniversary helps immensely."
"I'm not so sure about that last one, but I can do the whole being here for you thing."
"It was worth a shot," Liv smiled as Casey rolled on top of her.
"Oh really?" Casey arched an eyebrow, "Do you really think so Liv?"
"Well not now, no."
Casey grinned, "I'm really gonna make you work for it this year..."
"Good, I need something to look forward to."
